    Position Summary:

    CARES of Central PA provides employment services for people with intellectual disabilities and mental health disorders. We provide employment services including career assessment, job finding/development, and job coaching and support. Supported employment services are provided in a variety of community settings to support individuals in obtaining and sustaining competitive integrated employment. The Employment Specialist is responsible for assisting individuals in preparing for, finding, and maintaining competitive employment through Supported Employment. This position will require case management of up to 40 clients at any given time, daily logging of all job finding and job coaching activities, and collaboration with potential employers. In addition to a knowledge and understanding of clients with intellectual disabilities and mental health disorders, ability to build relationships with employers is key to the success of clients.

    Responsibilities:

    • Evaluating work readiness of clients
    • Following ISP's and the predetermined job of interest to seek appropriate potential employment
    • Provide resume writing skills and interview preparation as needed
    • Provide training and support to all supported employment clients as needed
    • Create awareness in the community of employment services available to employers
    • Research, contact, and develop relationships with businesses in the community, meet with potential employers and professionally represent the agency by presenting the Supported Employment Program and what it has to offer
    • Provide 1:1 support to clients on the job once employment is obtained and advocate on the job while providing exceptional customer service to employers and employees
    • Connect job seekers to appropriate jobs and support them through all follow-up activities after interviews and after placement
    • Provide intensive job coaching and fading out according to employer and client needs
    • Follow-up with placed clients and employers to ensure retention and to encourage new opportunities with employers
    • Work a very flexible schedule based on client need
    • Update and maintain daily client logs
    • Manage a caseload of up to 40 clients at any given time
    • Other duties as assigned

    Required Minimum Qualifications:

    Experience and Training

    • Associates Degree with 3 years' experience in Employment Services
    • Bachelor's Degree with 1 years' experience in Employment Services

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of Chapter 6100 Regulations
    • Fire & Safety Training
    • Computer proficiency including Google, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
    • Knowledge of and ability to write daily logs and progress notes
    • Excellent organization skills
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Excellent customer service skills

    Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

    • Willingness to work in office, in home, and in the community

    Schedule:

    • Monday to Friday
    • Weekends as needed

    Education:

    • Associate (Preferred)

    License/Certification:

    • Driver's License (Required)
