    The City of Pasadena Parks, Recreations, and Community Services Department is seeking a Community Services Representative III to perform tasks and assist in the operation of the Jackie Robinson Community Center. This is position will assist the community with identifying and accessing available services.

    Essential Functions

    • As part of a neighborhood outreach team, provides information, referral, skill-building and other services to develop linkages, networks, communication and teamwork among residents, businesses and organizations within the neighborhoods to improve public safety and other quality of life concerns.
    • Participates in neighborhood and empowerment activities which may include facilitating local community gatherings to address neighborhood issues.
    • Assists neighborhoods to establish local priorities and action plans to address such priorities.
    • Develops skills of residents and groups to address priority neighborhood concerns and links residents or groups with resources to address or resolve local issues.
    • As a community liaison representative in a community center or facility, provides information and referral services to individuals and groups.
    • Assists in providing direct services offered at a community center, including the physical set-up, maintenance and security of a center.
    • Establishes and maintains liaison with community-based organizations and residents to promote a variety of community services and activities.
    • Provides liaison coordination with local and other governmental and community and service-providing agencies.
    • Prepares correspondence, reports and records as necessary.
    • Assist with front desk coverage.
    • Processing passports for the community.
    • Assist with registering participants in PRCS programs and cashiering.
    • Responsible for the creative design and upkeep of the informational display cases at the Community Center.
    • Ability to work various work shifts as needed for community center coverage.
    • Performs related duties as assigned.

    Qualification Guidelines

    Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance, such as:
    • Three years experience providing community service, and knowledge of the local Pasadena community and resources.
    • Individuals with community service experience with an emphasis on the Pasadena community will be deemed most qualified.
    • Bilingual in English/Spanish highly preferred.
    SELECTION PROCESS
    The employment process will consist of a combination of evaluation of training and experience and the most highly qualified candidates may be invited to participate in an oral examination.

    There is currently one vacancy in the Parks, Recreation and Community Services department of the Community Services division. The resulting eligibility list from this recruitment may be used to fill this vacancy and similar vacancies in the future.

    PROBATIONARY WORK TEST PERIOD= One year
    FLSA= Non-Exempt

    Special Requirements

    Must possess a valid California Class C driver's license and comply with the City's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy during the course of employment.

    Effective January 1, 2013, new members to CalPERS or an agency with CALPERS' reciprocity or who have more than a six month break in service between employment in a CalPERS (or reciprocal) agency will be subject to the provisions of the Public Employees' Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA) and will receive the 2% @ 62 benefit formula.

    Employees who are current members of CalPERS or an agency with CalPERS' reciprocity, or who have less than a six month break in service between employment in a CalPERS (or reciprocal) agency and employment with the City will be enrolled in the 2.5% @ 55 benefit formula.

    All employees are required to pay the full employee contribution to CalPERS.
