As a Registered Nurse (RN) in thePediatrics unit, you will provide care to infants, children,adolescents and young adults who are suffering from conditions suchas asthma, acute illnesses, infections and dehydration.     Responsibilities:

    • Provides direct nursingcare in accordance with established policies, procedures andprotocols of the healthcare organization. Implements and monitorspatient care plans.
    • Monitors, records andcommunicates patient condition asappropriate.
    • Monitors and documents patient'scondition and effectiveness and timeliness of care and/orinterventions.
    • Evaluates, updates and revisesplan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expectedoutcomes.
    • Serves as a primary coordinator ofall disciplines for well-coordinated patientcare.
    • Administers prescribed medications andtreatments in accordance with approved nursingprotocol.
    • Notes and carries out physician andnursing orders.
    • Assesses and coordinatespatient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcareteam.
    • Assesses educational needs of the patientand significant others considering cultural issues and otherspecial concerns.
    • Provides teaching andeducational material as appropriate.
    • Validatesand documents patient and family understanding ofteaching.
    • Maintains professional growth anddevelopment through ongoing formal and informal education andclinical nursing study.
    • Other duties asassigned.

    Education:

    • Graduate from an accreditedschool of professional nursing. BSNpreferred.

    Certifications:

    • Currentstate licensure as Registered Nurse (RN).
    • Proofof Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association(AHA) must be presented upon hire.
    • If in aCritical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) throughAmerican Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presentedupon hire or within first year ofemployment.
    • Within one year of hire RNs inChildren's Hospital and Children's Hospital for Rehabilitation willachieve and maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) throughAmerican Heart Association (AHA) with the exception of the NeonatalIntensive Care Unit RNs who must achieve and maintain NeonatalResuscitation Program (NRP) through American Heart Association(AHA) provider status and RNs in the Special Delivery Unit, whomust achieve and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)through American Heart Association (AHA).
    • ONSChemo/Bio course complete within 1 year of employment if employedon units inpatient and/or outpatient where chemo isadministered.
    • If in an Adult/Combined EDs, ACLSupon hire or within one year of beginning work in the EmergencyDepartment.
    • If in an ED, Pediatric AdvancedLife Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) uponhire or within one year of beginning work in the EmergencyDepartment.
    • In Dedicated Trauma Centers, TraumaNursing Core Course (TNCC - adult) or Emergency Nurse PediatricCourse (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months ofbeginning work in the EmergencyDepartment.
    • Vascular Access Registered Nurse(VARN) program attendance required and obtains either a CertifiedRegistered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) or Vascular Access Board Certified(VA-BC) certification upon hire or within a year of hire inPeripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC)areas.
    • Any registered nurse or advancedpractice nurse must obtain a cancer specific certification ordemonstrate ongoing qualifying education within the timeframe ofthe facilities accreditation cycle, if they work in medicaloncology, radiation oncology, cancer center or cancer clinicand/or administer chemotherapy within an accredited ClevelandClinicfacility.

    Complexityof Work:

    • Requires criticalthinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work withminimal supervision.
    • Must be able to work in astressful environment and take appropriateaction.

    WorkExperience:

    • Minimum one yearcurrent acute care RN experience in a hospital setting required foracute care settings.
    • Minimum one year currentacute care RN experience and/or skilled nursing facility (SNF)experience required for SNF caresettings.
    • Minimum one year current acute careRN experience and/or rehab experience required for rehab caresettings.
    • Minimum one year current acute careRN experience and/or Emergency Department (ED) experience requiredfor ED settings.
    • Will considerlicensed military RNexperience.

    PhysicalRequirements:

    • Requires fullrange of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manualand finger dexterity, and eye-handcoordination.
    • Requires standing and walking forextended periods of time.
    • Requires correctedvision and hearing to normal range.
    • Requiresworking under stressful conditions and irregularhours.
    • Exposure to communicable diseases and/orbody fluids.
    • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of forcefrequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of forceconstantly to move objects.
    • Physical Demandrequirements are in excess of those for LightWork.
