JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for day-to-day inspection, storage coordination, and transport of all regulated wastes resort-wide including responding to emergency environmental incidents.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Inspection and Operations - evaluates satellite waste, central accumulation storage, and storage tanks for compliance by performing inspection of equipment, tanks, and processes, and evaluates data related to waste parameters. Provides field support for the Company's EHS requirements under regulatory and/or corporate policy requirements. Support and follow up on waste generator requests for additional waste storage and/or supplies.
Waste Management and Transport – ensure proper labeling, handling, inspection, transport, storage, and disposal of regulated wastes. Regularly transport wastes from on-property generators to the central accumulation area. Segregates hazardous waste into compatible waste types. Ensures wastes are prepared for proper transport as required. Maintain working relationships with waste management vendors.
Emergency Response and Coordination – inspect for release controls to include secondary containments, spill equipment, response supplies, erosion control, storm conveyance systems, emergency pumps overfill protections. Respond to environmental incidents and take immediate action to control and/or stop further release related to water, chemicals and/or waste. Activate the Company's incident response as necessary and in accordance with EHS policy and regulation.
Accident and Incident Investigation – investigate accidents and incidents that occur property-wide. Implement corrective measures and educate partners on prevention techniques to minimize/eliminate non-compliance incidents. Utilize audit tracking system to ensure deficiencies are tracked to completion.
Assists with monitoring wastewater discharge treatment equipment and storm water systems.
Administrative Duties – maintain field-generated and office records, perform data entry, prepare logbooks, procedures, as-built drawings, safety training, work order utilization, etc.
Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Associate degree in environmental sciences or environmental engineering or equivalent is preferred.
Advanced technical education and/or training in the appropriate area of concentration is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

1+ year of experience applicable to the area of concentration for the role being hired is strongly preferred.
Hazardous waste release response experience required.
A combination of hazardous, universal, non-hazardous, and regulated waste transport, storage, and disposal experience.
Large quantity generator central waste accumulation coordination experience is preferred.
A combination of storm water and wastewater management is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Florida Driver's License/required to operate company vehicles.
Valid Florida Cass B Commercial Driver's License with HAZMAT endorsement required within 6 months of hire.
Initial 24 Hour HAZWOPER Training.
8 Hour HAZWOPER Refresher (annual).
Hazardous Materials Transportation Training.
RCRA Training (or equivalent experience) (annual).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Computer experience preferred.
Operation of powered industrial vehicles (forklift, high reach, back hoe, etc.) is preferred.
