    Description


    A welding engineer has responsibility for providing daily expert technical oversight for welding procedures, weld technicians and associate welding production issues.

    Also responsible for the managing of welding qualifications, creating and maintaining welding procedures, analyzing designs for welding requirements and reviewing customer welding specifications.


    ResponsibilitiesThis position is primarily responsible to:

    Reviewing weld procedures, processes and documentationReviewing customer welding specification for estimating and production weldingBasic understanding of industry codes (ASME, API, AWS, DNVGL, etc.)Basic understanding of destructive testing, NDE method and arc welding proceduresTechnical contact for vendors such as welding equipment, mechanical testing, welding material, etc.

    May perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques and materialsEvaluate current welding procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
    Read and interpret CAD data, blueprints, GD&T, CMM reports, customer weld specifications.
    Ensures all welding processes meet safety requirementsPrepare technical reports.
    Support of weld technicians through participating in the professional development, technical resource and mentoring.
    Support engineering team as needed including welding, design, materials, manufacturing, etc.


    Required Skills and Experience:

    Education Required:
    BS Engineering degree, Mechanical Engineering degree or other from accredited engineering program

    Required Experience:

    Level 1: 0-1 year experience, practical hands on experience strongly preferredAWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferredGood communication skills; capable of instructing and training other welders or welding operatorsTraining on safety, welding procedures, drawings, shop routers or work instructions as neededMust be able to handle multiple tasks and work flexible hoursPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    This position will require working primarily indoors in a manufacturing facility but may also require the employee to be outdoors on occasion.

    Indoor locations are partially climate controlled.
    Occasional assignments require evening or weekend schedulesFrequent planned and unplanned overtime.
    The noise level is usually moderate. Employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
    On-Site presence is required.
    Candidates are required to be authorized to work in the United States.
