    About the Employer


    The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County's 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing.

    MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education.

    While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.


    Job Summary


    Under the direction of a migrant supervisor, Migrant Education Program, and with input from the school site principal/designee, will provide individual and small group tutoring to migrant students during the regular year program at an after school site and/or in the home.

    Will be responsible for providing tutoring in reading, writing, mathematics, English Language Development and other academic subjects as needed for students to meet grade level standards; may include student observation in the classroom setting, meeting with the classroom teacher and or school-site principal and/or designee.

    This position is not included in the classified bargaining unit and is not subject to terms of the union agreement regarding membership, payment of like fee, or donation to recognized charity.

    Proof of NCLB Compliance: 48 college units, AA degree or higher, or passing score on NCLB/ESSA exam. (qualified candidates will be scheduled for NCLB/ESSA exam if no proof is attached) Please attach unofficial college transcripts if you have at lease 48 college units or a degree

    • OPTIONAL: Three (3) current letters of recommendation (DATED & SIGNED WITHIN THE LAST 18 MONTHS)

    NOTE:
    Upon hire the candidate selected for this position will be required to present the following:

    • Valid California Drivers License
    • Social Security Card
    • Proof of Tuberculin test results
    • DMV printout (Driving Record)
    • Proof of Automobile Liability Insurance
    • Original High School/GED or official High School Transcripts
    • OFFICIAL College Transcripts (if applicable)

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    The position requires a High School Diploma or recognized equivalent and one year of experience working with school-aged students.


    LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
    Requires a valid California Driver's License. If using personal vehicle in the course of employment, must have proof of liability insurance required by law.

    • DMV printout (Driving Record)
    • Must be NCLB/ESSA compliant through locally development assessment or have 48-college units or an Associate Degree
    • Must furnish own transportation
    • Must be bilingual in the language of the children being served
    Candidates who meet MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS, but lack NCLB certification will be scheduled for an exam.
