- Derive software requirements from higher-level system requirements and system architecture
- Design software components, subsystems, and systems in collaboration with a large, cross-functional team under an agile methodology and following a DevSecOps process
- Perform thorough unit testing of developed software
- Participate in software system integration and hardware-software integration
- Create and maintain required documentation
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and customer representatives
- Support system acceptance testing and correction of identified defects
- Weapons: Experience with or knowledge of fighter aircraft weapon systems (e.g., Air-to-Air RADAR and IR guided missiles, Air-to-Surface INS/GPS and/or LASER guided bombs)
- Weapons: Experience with or knowledge of 6-DOF aerodynamic modeling
- EW: Working knowledge of Electronic Warfare (RF emissions, Electronic Attack/Protection, Countermeasures) applications
- Fighter aircraft mission systems or threat environment design and development experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics or a related technical field along with 5 years of relevant work experience
- Software lifecycle experience with a software intensive system.
- Experience developing in C# or C++
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance
- Experience or familiarity with aspects of the F-35 aircraft, such as:
- Current F-35 Tactics Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) and the pacing threat that drives employment techniques
- F-35 Pilot Vehicle Interface (PVI) conventions
- F-35 Mission Planning Environment (MPE), Mission Data File Generation, and the Mission Data Update Lifecycle
- Familiarity with tactical datalinks, weapon systems, communication systems, and sensors
- Demonstrated experience with large scale flight simulation systems, to include computer generated forces, utilizing High-Level Architecture (HLA), Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), or similar architectures
- Experience with Linux, Windows, or Python/bash scripting
- Experience working in an Agile development methodology using the Atlassian tool suite and GitLab
- Experience performing robust software unit testing and real-time debugging of complex multi-threaded software/systems
- Working knowledge of Model Based Engineering (MBE) (e.g., Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody) or DOORS
- Active DoD SECRET security clearance

Position Summary and Job Responsibilities
BGI is seeking a Software Engineer with experience and knowledge in Fighter Aircraft Weapons Systems and modeling and/or Electronic Warfare (EW) applications. This opportunity is in Orlando, Florida for a Senior Software Engineer supporting the Lockheed Martin F-35 Pilot Training Devices Program. Anticipated need starts in 2nd to 3rd quarter of 2023. In this important role, you will collaborate with a diverse team of technical professionals and interact with outside customers.
