    The Claim Manager will report to the Director of Claims and will maintain a strong working relationship with various regional / project personnel, safety directors, quality directors, general counsel personnel, insurance carriers (Owner, McCarthy, JV & Subcontractors), attorneys (defense, plaintiff & coverage), experts, third-party claim administrators, brokers and various personnel within the McCarthy risk management department.

    The role will also be responsible for risk management duties and support relating to the national Renewable Energy business. This position is located in our Phoenix office with the option to work remotely one day a week.


    Responsibilities for Claim Management Duties:


    Responsible for handling the day-to-day claims handling of liability (General Liability, Auto, Pollution Liability, Professional Liability) and assist with Builders' Risk claims, working closely with all necessary internal / external parties in the resolution of claims.

    Responsible for investigating, evaluating, submitting, strategizing, negotiating and settling claims.

    Responsible for tendering to subcontractors and additional insured carriers in order to trigger the appropriate additional insured defense and indemnification obligations.

    Responsible for conducting coverage analysis based upon facts of a case and insurance policies implicated in order to advise Sr.

    Management and respond appropriately to carrier coverage positions.


    Responsibilities for Risk Management Duties:
    Review and analyze Bid Documents and Specifications for new contracts/pursuits.
    Prepare detailed Memo and Executive Summary upon completion of review of bid documents for Sr. Management.

    Review surety, insurance coverage and associated risk issues related to construction contracts, lease agreements, subcontract agreements and consultant agreements with Corporate Legal, Division Management and Construction Project Management.

    Evaluate, initiate and direct the appropriate insurance and bond pricing and coverage recommendations for all new pursuits.

    Evaluate Owner supplied (i.e., builders' risk, OCIP) and other project specific as well as Subcontractor furnished insurance policies in order to ensure the adequacy of such coverage and to identify any gaps in coverage; recommend alternatives and solutions.

    Maintain project records in Risk Information Management System (RMIS) to keep information current and accurate and manage assigned tasks.

    Negotiate contract language regarding insurance and risk related issues with Owners' attorneys and risk personnel and elevate outcomes to upper management as appropriate.


    Qualifications:


    10 years of property & casualty claims experience (General Liability, Professional Liability, Pollution Liability, Builder's Risk and Property/Contractors Equipment), familiarity with construction defect claims handling a plus.

    General knowledge and understanding of Construction and Construction Contracts and Insurance Provisions.
    Bachelors Degree required; Advanced Degree, CPCU, ARM, CRIS and other certifications a plus.
    Strong knowledgebase / experience working with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, various claim / risk management applications.
    Multi-state claims handling experience.
    Familiar with various state laws / regulations / case laws / statutes affecting Claims.
    Strong communication skills (written & verbal).
    Ability to travel as necessary to mediations, on-site investigations, etc. (25%)

    The successful candidate will be required to work out of the McCarthy Regional office in Phoenix with an option for remote work one day a week.
