- Provide quality customer service to employees: train, educate and assist employees in properly completing payroll forms, on-line timesheet submission and time off requests.
- Audit timesheets for accuracy, approve and release time in the time system.
- Coordinate, input, assist and process semi-monthly payroll for all exempt and non-exempt employees and ensure that all active and terminated employee wages, earnings and tax withholdings are correct. Distribute payroll reports with every pay cycle.
- Process off-cycle employee bonuses.
- Process manual checks as needed for missed pay or terminations according to the state regulations.
- Process wage garnishments timely to maintain compliance.
- Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed.
- Develop in depth understanding of HRIS database to be able to create ad hoc reports on demand.
- Assist with answering general payroll questions for all employees and management in a timely manner.
- Respond to external requests for employment verification.
- Assist in maintaining compliance within all the states in which employees reside.
- Display a team work oriented mindset and partner with all levels and departments of the organization.
- Follow, maintain, and improve payroll procedures.
- Work closely with the HR department to enact company policy changes that impact payroll processing
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding sensitive information
- Perform other duties as required and assigned by the Payroll Supervisor and Assistant Controller
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite
- Acute attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
- Excellent client service skills, including the ability to calmly and patiently resolve issues under pressure.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in person, on the phone, electronically, or through other means to individuals and groups
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, and deal tactfully with sensitive information
- Commitment to high level of customer service, and maintaining the integrity of the Human Resources and Finance Departments
- Minimum of 3+ years' experience with payroll in the professional services industry
- Experience with Ulitpro (a plus)
- Certified Payroll Processor (CPP) (a plus)
- High School Diploma
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred, not required)
