    Description

    Lean Manager (Manufacturing) - Columbia, SC (Relocation Offered)

    We are seeking a Lean Manager who employs a range of abilities, including project design, leadership, and management, to ensure performance enhancement and process evolution. This role involves utilizing Lean Six Sigma principles to spearhead continuous improvement initiatives and achieve operational excellence. The individual in this role is tasked with planning, scheduling, and executing continuous improvement activities (like Kaizen) within a manufacturing facility's production floor.

    Compensation: $120,000 - $130,000 + Discretionary Bonus + 401k (50%) Match, Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, STD, LTD, PTO.

    *Relocation is offered for candidates moving.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Pinpointing opportunities for process enhancement, waste elimination, and cost reduction
    • Organizing, facilitating, and carrying out continuous improvement events using Lean Six Sigma tools
    • Instructing, guiding, and coaching cross-functional teams on Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology
    • Striving for continuous process improvement on the production floor and transactional areas by collaborating with various functions such as logistics

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Clearly outlining program objectives and scope
    • Assessing and prioritizing potential improvements based on benefits and required effort
    • Securing employee commitment (e.g., process managers) for proactive change management
    • Formulating a clear and comprehensive implementation plan
    • Setting criteria for the project's success and preparing a robust statement of constraints/limiting factors
    • Implementing governance principles appropriately
    • Resolving technical issues such as formulation, equipment, product, interpretation of regulations, and resource availability
    • Identifying intervention priorities and indicators
    • Conducting a thorough analysis of the current situation that accurately outlines the issues
    • Defining deliverables, outcome indicators, and performance-measured indicators
    • Identifying available resources (e.g., people, material, and finances)
    • Detailing the desired situation
    • Clearly outlining methodology
    • Analyzing options accurately, including impact and feasibility
    • Identifying obstacles and strategies to overcome them through continuous improvement
    • Regularly monitoring the implementation of solutions to achieve objectives and expected benefits

    Skills Required and Desired

    Pursue positive change and collaborate with employees in implementing recommended changes. A successful continuous improvement manager possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills and can communicate with all levels of employees, from upper management to production floor workers. They explain the reasons for changing processes and how to implement those changes. Using Lean Six Sigma methodologies, the continuous improvement manager spearheads the improvement efforts and educates others on their implementation.

    Being organized and skilled at balancing and managing priorities is crucial for a successful continuous improvement professional, as there can be competition for what is handled and when. Keen analytical skills and the ability to synthesize information are essential when determining how current processes can be improved.
