Job summary
Performs a variety of maintenance work requiring the use of a variety of trade practices associated with such occupations as air conditioning and refrigeration electrical work plumbing carpentry masonry and painting.
Responsibilities
- Installs maintains and repairs a variety of refrigeration and air conditioning units and systems such as coolers refrigeration's deep freezers etc.
- Makes electrical repairs on such items as defective wiring controls equipment fixtures having broken bare wiring burned out switches relays loose connections fittings damaged light fixtures poorly operating thermostats rearranges hooks up outlets switches light fixtures regulators circuit breakers installed systems locates broken worn damaged poorly operating wiring fixtures controls equipment through visual check limited number test equipment lamps ammeters removes replaces tightens splices solders insulates items being repaired using hand tools measures cuts bends wires conduits specified lengths angles removes cleans replaces seals defective parts utility supply disposal systems dirty traps sections broken tile pipe tile caulks elbows union joints faucets cleans reinstalls joints fixtures hooks water heaters disposal units faucets similar type equipment installed systems uses material specified work orders replacement parts comparison samples measures cuts bends pipe measurements orders sketches comparison samples uses tools equipment tapes rules hacksaws power pipe threaders cutters packing caulking irons pipe wrenches plans lays out work drawings sketches blue-prints own knowledge construction needed repairs selects lumber materials supplies measures cuts materials required lengths dimensions installs structural trim items nailing bolting morticing doweling gluing planes sands finishes completed work necessary trims mortices drills prepares items attachment hardware applies caulking compound filler material door window casing points tight seal requires uses hand power shop tools accomplishment assignment performs maintenance repair construction structures surfaces brick block stone related materials may remove damaged portions walls partitions walkways similar structures preparation repairs tears portions walls installation doors windows spreads mortar sets brick block stone finishes mortar joints matches undamaged portion structure uses hand tools trowels gauge lines plumb bobs hammers chisels performance duties paints variety surfaces interiors exteriors buildings shelves cabinets locations directions insuring surfaces fully coated protected free drips runs prepares surfaces methods sanding wire brushing scraping spackling puttying brushes rolls shellacs prime intermediate final coats coating finishes meet surface protection requirements checks surfaces assure skips touches needed cleans maintains brushes painting equipment makes automotive repairs accomplished cleaning reinstalling replacing defective parts components systems fouled spark plugs leaky wheel cylinders corroded mufflers brake shoes determines if parts should cleaned reinstalled replaced standard parts settings adjustments distributor voltage regulator points gapping spark plugs engine idle time brakes takes up brakes locates worn dirty poorly adjusted parts visual check test equipment timing lights dwell meters feeler gauges circuit testers test equipment maintains storeroom areas clean orderly manner performs other related duties assigned.
