GENERAL DUTIES
Meets with patients to discuss and treat dental concerns, performing regular cleanings and other preventative procedures. Establishes a plan for better dental hygiene.
Provides treatment to the patient by performing dental procedures such as extractions, root canals, filling cavities, correcting bite issues and overcrowding of teeth and applying helpful agents to teeth as required.
Prescribes medications for dental problems, such as pain medications or antibiotics. Orders diagnostic measures, such as x-rays, models, etc.
Uses various tools, such as drills, probes, brushes or mirrors to examine, treat teeth and mouth problems.
Maintains records relating to the oral health of patients and the treatments given to them. Develops documentation for prescriptions and patient files based off dental procedure that took place.
Manages and communicates with other staff members to provide care to patients.
Directs dental assistants to perform duties which support quality patient care.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
Doctor of Dental or Doctor of Dental Medicine from an accredited school.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Current, valid license to practice dentistry in state where providing care (License must be in good standing) or eligible for licensure.
