    ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Plans and executes nutrition education programs for the department, the community, school systems, tribal and other organizations.
    • Designs nutrition education services by researching, developing, writing, and updating methods, and guidelines.
    • Prepares manuals, visual aids, course outlines, and other materials used in teaching program participants.
    • Conducts presentations and trainings using the latest research on nutrition - related subjects; introducing new nutrition programs and services.
    • Communicates effectively to diverse individuals and groups using appropriate methods and strategies in communication, education, and social marketing in culturally, socially, and developmentally appropriate applications.
    • Plans effective nutrition related health promotion and chronic disease prevention programs and collaboratively developing program goals, measurable objectives, and implementation and evaluation plans.
    • Works collaboratively to implement program plans and market program, monitor effectiveness, identify issues and adjust objectives and activities as necessary to meet the program goals.
    • Adheres to HIPPA, Privacy Act and corporate policy requirements when dealing with all patient records or any PHI.
    • Develops, coordinates and conducts exercise, nutrition, gardening basics, culinary skills, food safety, cooking classes and other related activities, with emphasis on evidence-based healthful eating and exercise information.
    • Develops, implements, and markets nutrition education services and programs to worksites, organizations, and community.
    • Manages an accountability system for exercise equipment; nutrition supplies; and data generated from day to day activities, such as attendance and referrals.
    • Fosters partnerships with schools, FDIHB departments and other Navajo Nation programs and businesses.
    • Monitors issues and trends relevant to childhood obesity prevention; diabetes; weight management; food budgeting; cooking easy recipes; culinary skills, food safety, and other relevant topics.
    • Understands demographics of customer base and tailors nutrition and health messages to satisfy customer needs and interests.
    • Serves as a role model with promotion and participation in health and wellness activities sponsored by the Division of Healthy Living & Outreach and its partners.
    • Provides evidence-based teachings.
    • Oversees the development and implementation of Program Evaluation. Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes.
    • Develops and implements an individualized portfolio plan for professional growth and development including participation in professional organizations and activities workshops, seminars, and staff development programs.
    • Continuously improves skills in writing, presentation, public speaking, communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Provides support to other Healthy Living & Outreach programs and other collaborative programs with activities such as health screenings, health fairs, and other community events.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience: Four (4) years of direct work experience.

    Education: Associate's degree in related field.

    ServSafe Food Handler's Certification.
