    JOB TITLE: Adult Day Program Assistant /PRN

    DEPARTMENT: Memory Care

    REPORTS TO: Adult Day Program Director/Administrator of Memory Care

    HOURS OF WORK: Program hours for Program Assistants are from 10:00am - 4:00pm, Monday through Friday, and 8:30am - 4:00pm on Saturdays when on the schedule. The Adult Day Program Assistants hours will be scheduled on an as needed basis up to 29 hours per week.

    REPORTS TO: Works under the direction of the Adult Day Program Director or his/her designee.

    HOURLY PAY RATE: $15.00 per hour - depending on experience.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The program assistant provides essential personal and recreational services to the participants of the Adult Day Program to help meet their needs while enabling them to function at their highest possible level.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Will provide assistance as needed with participants' personal care needs, including but not limited to elimination, dining, mobility, psychosocial and safety needs.
    2. Follows universal precautions, proper infection control, sanitation and safety standards of practice in all work and activities.
    3. Observes participants closely, identifying changing needs and conditions at first indication, and communicates with supervisor.
    4. Actively participates in the individualized care planning of all participants.
    5. Continually seeks opportunities to meet participant's psychosocial needs through both scheduled and spontaneous activities that support participant choice.
    6. Continually seeks opportunities to promote and improve the social needs of all participants through supporting and encouraging, friendships and kindness to one another.
    7. Is active in the planning and organizing of large and small group activities, making any necessary changes to assure successful results for all.
    8. Leads and participates in learning circles for staff and participants.
    9. Maintains all supplies including equipment and games used in supporting participants individual choice and for group activities.
    10. Assists in maintaining a clean, safe environment within the center including restrooms and common areas.
    11. Supports all aspects of the program and the environment, including pets, plants, children, visitors, and volunteers.
    12. Assists in program record-keeping and updating required documentation.
    13. Must demonstrate ability to work well under stressful situations.
    14. Ability to organize and lead group activities.
    15. Ability to read and write effectively.
    16. Ability to work in groups and one-on-one with individuals.
    17. Ability to work and communicate with volunteers.
    18. May be required to perform other duties in keeping with the nature of this position which will not significantly alter the job requirements.

    Certificates & licenses:

    • Must be CPR And First Aid Certified
    • Nurse Aid certification preferred, but not required.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Must be at least 21 years of age.
    • High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
    • Ability to speak and write Spanish fluently preferred, but not required.
    • Prior experience working with older individuals with dementia preferred.
