    Position Purpose

    Responsible for procurement of item requirements to support the Master Production Schedule, Customer Orders, unscheduled demand and for the planning and maintenance of purchased parts inventory buffer levels.

    Responsible for setting up and maintaining a strong supply chain management system in support of corporate objectives using the material requirements planning system, forecasts, and production plan.


    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships.
    • Establish, monitor and purchase inventory to buffer requirements based on: Master production schedule/forecast, customer demand, and production plan. Negotiating contracts with vendors using target-pricing strategy.
    • Negotiate with vendors to target pricing strategy and delivery schedules to support customer demand.
    • Make procurement decisions/recommendations to support corporate objectives.
    • Be an active participant or leader on teams for process improvement activities.
    • Communication of delays, shortages, problems, issues relating to purchase of items for inventory. Assisting in devising and carrying out plans to resolve issues effectively.
    • Carry out activities relating to policies, procedures and information from management to working team of planner/buyers.
    • Special projects as required by management.
    • Monitor back order reports to ensure vendors are delivering items on time to support corporate objectives.
    • Assist in devising and carrying out plans to resolve issues effectively.
    • Participate in strategic sourcing projects in data gathering and simple analysis.
    • Undertake market research and identifies supplier sources.
    • Monitor performance against KPIs and report on performance issues in accordance with GSC procurement standards.
    • Perform data entry of purchase order entry and recordkeeping of completed work.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Minimum High school diploma.
    • 5+ years planner/buyer experience.
    • Preferred: APICS/ISM certification or post high school education in relevant field, especially aerospace.
    • 4 Year degree desired or equivalent combination of education and experience Enterprise/Material Requirements Planning (ERP/MRP) systems.

    Knowledge of:

    • Enterprise/Material Requirements Planning (ERP/MRP) systems.
    • DAX fluency.
    • Purchasing standards, and techniques. Required to keep up with new techniques and practices as they are developed.

    Skill in:

    • Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio).
    • Negotiating provisions, contracts and monitoring performance of vendors.

    Ability to:

    • Provide excellent customer service and conduct business in a respectful and professional manner.
    • Learn and understand basic manufacturing, engineering and quality jargon.
    • Operate and contribute effectively as an individual and as a member of a team.
    • Written and verbal communications required along with the ability to make presentation to supervisor and other co-workers.
    • Adapt to a changing work environment and be flexible in approach.
