    Description

    The Data Security Architect works closely with the IT Security Manager to plan, implement, upgrade, and monitor security measures for the protection of the Sargent & Lundy's data. The architect leads the development of data security strategies and architecture for systems that align with best practices. Embed security into the overall approach and vision for data across the enterprise. You will also assist in development and oversight in the implementation of information security applications, procedures, and policies. You will be part of the team to collaboratively monitor and respond to security events, threats, and intrusions.

    This is a hybrid position with the ability to work from our Downtown Chicago Office (3 days a week) and remotely (2 days a week).

  • Conduct security design reviews for proposed solutions, identifying and addressing potential vulnerabilities and threats
  • Assist application and infrastructure teams in architecting and implementing secure business solutions utilizing On-Prem, IaaS SaaS, and PaaS
  • Implement software tools to assist in the detection, prevention, and analysis of security threats
  • Document business requirements, high-level architecture and design documentation, and detailed processes
  • Track and manage resolutions on findings from Risk Assessments, Vulnerability Assessments, and Penetration tests.
  • Research and assess new threats and security alerts, and recommend remediation actions
  • Drive our security strategy to continuously improve our security posture
  • Lead independent security tests to proactively find security holes
  • Utilize the NIST, SOC2, and ISO 27001 frameworks to guide and enhance company security posture
  • Collaborate with the wider security team to support response and remediation of security incidents, as well as proactively identify potential security risks
  • Mentor staff to build security into everyday development practices
  • Qualifications

    Essential skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or commensurable military experience
  • Five years of experience working with security applications and design
  • Two years of experience in an IT data security role for a Microsoft-oriented network
  • Two years of experience in project management
  • Previous middle-sized organization experience is required
  • Experience in IT security and data analytics
  • Strong familiarity with security technologies, such as AV\EDR, vulnerability management, SIEM, privilege access management, and SOC ticketing etc.
  • Strong familiarity with both on premise and cloud infrastructure technologies
  • Ability to problem-solve IT system issues and identify effective and cost-efficient solutions to IT challenges
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across levels of leadership
  • Professional security management certifications or progress toward one would be advantageous
