    ASML's YieldStar Sensor Group in Wilton CT is seeking a Physicist/Engineer with preference to optical engineering to support and develop optical / photonic sensor systems used within ASML's photolithography tools.

    These systems typically include light sources, detectors, optical and electro-optical components, fiber optics, electronics and signal processing software functioning as a key sub-system in ASML optical metrology tool.

    The job mission of the optical design engineer is to contribute to YS sensor development, realization and field sustaining by optical engineering contributions in areas of optical design and tolerancing, optical technologies of devices and how they can be implemented in YS sensor, Optical build and alignment and data processing and evaluation for issues root cause evaluation.

    Using Physics, Mathematics, Electronics, Mechanics, and Software knowledge and an understanding of the sensor systems and the lithography tool to model, design and de-bug new and existing sensors in complex environments.


    Optical modeling and data analysis and evaluation:

    Physical Optics Simulation (wave propagation, partial coherence calculation and other optical effects) in Matlab, FRED and CodeV or other suitable design tools.

    Data processing and trending with Matlab And/or hands-on optical alignment, testing and qualification
    Building and aligning complex sensors using diverse mechanical, collimation and interferometers
    Working knowledge with diverse optical devices and sensors: objectives, collimation and relay optics, fibers, cameras and detectors
    Looking for candidate with education in optical engineering and sciences, physics with focus in optical sciences. Bachelors with a minimum of 4 years' experience
    Or a PhD degree
    Optical sensors alignment experience using diverse alignment strategy and tools like optical collimators, mechanical gaging and interferometers.
    Expertise with diverse optical technologies and devices: polarization devices, relays, objectives, light sources, fibers, camera and detectors.
    Must be able to read and interpret data, information, and documents.
    Strong customer focus and commitment to customer satisfaction through prioritization, quality, efficiency and professionalism.
    Work independently or as part of a team and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision.

    A flexible workplace arrangement may be available to employees working in roles conducive to remote work (up to two days a week).

    Work in a fast-paced office environment, including working in a standing or seated position for long periods of up to 12 hours per day, 5 days per week.

    Commute to ASML's facility and report to work on a regular and timely basis and complete the scheduled workday on a consistent basis.

    Perform office tasks using simple hand grasping, fine hand manipulation and reach associated with assigned tasks such as paperwork, computer keyboarding (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint), filing, calculating, and use of telephone or other handheld electronic devices, continuously for up to 10 hours per day, five days per week.

    May require travel (specify domestic and/or international) dependent on business needs – specify percentage of travel.

    Additional Responsibilities (as needed in the cleanroom and/or labs):

    The role will require some clean room engineering support during new product introduction and customer escalation to find root cause.
