    In-House Counsel (Renewable Energy & Digital Infrastructure)

    Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid) or Montana

    Reports to: General Counsel

    The Role

    The company is seeking an In-House Counsel with experience in renewable energy and infrastructure to support a growing portfolio of development projects. This role will work closely with the General Counsel and internal project teams to review, assess, and advise on a wide range of commercial and infrastructure-related agreements.

    This is a hands-on, business-facing role focused on contract review, risk assessment, and deal support, rather than litigation. The ideal candidate brings a strong commercial contract background and a solid understanding of renewable energy and data center infrastructure markets.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Review, analyze, and advise on commercial contracts, including development agreements, power-related agreements, vendor contracts, and infrastructure arrangements
    • Partner closely with project managers and internal stakeholders to assess contractual risk, commercial terms, and pricing implications
    • Provide legal guidance related to renewable energy projects, power infrastructure, and digital infrastructure developments
    • Identify legal, regulatory, and commercial risks and recommend practical, business-oriented solutions
    • Support deal execution and contract approvals throughout the project lifecycle
    • Collaborate with the General Counsel on legal strategy, compliance, and internal processes
    • Assist in improving and streamlining contract review processes within a lean legal function

    What This Role Is (and Is Not)

    This role is:

    • A renewables- and infrastructure-focused in-house counsel position
    • Centered on contract review and commercial risk assessment
    • Highly integrated with project and development teams

    This role is not:

    • A litigation role
    • A drafting-heavy position
    • A large, layered corporate legal department

    Qualifications

    • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership
    • 3–5+ years of legal experience, ideally within renewable energy, energy infrastructure, or related sectors
    • Strong experience reviewing and advising on commercial contracts
    • Familiarity with renewable energy projects, power infrastructure, or data center agreements is strongly preferred
    • Practical, business-minded approach with strong judgment
    • Comfortable operating in a small, fast-moving organization

    Work Environment & Location

    • Hybrid work environment
    • Preferred location: Houston, TX (2–3 days per week in-office)
    • Open to candidates based in Montana
