    Description

    WORK OVERVIEW
    The Civil Engineer III will be a key member of the Civil Engineering team at the Town of Windsor. This role involves engaging in intricate design and technical tasks, carrying out supervisory responsibilities, and fulfilling a wide range of assigned duties. The individual will be responsible for executing complex civil engineering projects for the town, aligning them with the strategy, mission, and vision of the Engineering Division. This entails tasks such as design review, infrastructure construction inspection, and municipal construction management.

    SUPERVISORY STRUCTURE
    Under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Engineering, the Civil Engineer III will play a pivotal role in executing assigned duties and projects under various circumstances, both routine and complex.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Offer valuable recommendations on capital improvement priorities and municipal projects.
    • Collaborate effectively with construction personnel and manage infrastructure projects.
    • Undertake engineering design and management of municipal projects while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Communicate clearly and professionally with various stakeholders, including the public and contractors.
    • Manage special projects like Pavement Management and Drainage effectively.
    • Oversee project designs for compliance and resolve conflicts when necessary.
    • Conduct thorough site inspections and ensure adherence to engineering plans and specifications.
    • Collaborate with developers and consultants for project design compliance.
    • Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and policies.
    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
    Additional duties may involve participating in programs like the Shared Fleet Vehicle Program, conducting research, and assisting other town departments as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND FORMAL TRAINING
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
    • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Civil Engineer II in urban design.
    • Strong experience in civil engineering, preferably in an urban setting.
    • Proficiency in municipal engineering practices and supervision.
    • Valid Colorado Driver's License and Professional Engineering License.
    SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Thorough knowledge of engineering principles and public works procedures.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Ability to interpret blueprints, manage budgets, and maintain accurate records.
    • Demonstrated integrity, resourcefulness, and sound judgment in all tasks.
    WORK ENVIRONMENT & REQUIREMENTS
    • Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting, and extensive computer work.
    • Position involves light work with potential exposure to various environmental conditions.
    • Requires close attention to detail and strong visual acuity.
