    Building relationships, one interaction at a time: Join us as an Engagement Officer Our Engagement Officers work to build relationships with our current donors, past donors, and new donors. The position actively seeks out and stewards gifts while providing information that deepens their understanding and connection to the University of North Dakota.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Engagement Officer works as part of a high-performing, donor-centered team responsible for assisting the UND Alumni Association & Foundation in the retention, renewal, and acquisition of donors. Using email, social media, Vidyard, SalesForce, video conferencing and phone/text, the Engagement Officer stewards' donors, provides information that deepens their understanding and connection to the University, and solicits them for annual gifts.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    FUNDRAISING

    1. Manage a portfolio of approximately 500 prospects. Focus will be on retaining, renewing, acquiring prospects for specific units and initiatives.
    2. Manage assignments in Sales Force to cultivate connections with donors using email, phone/text, social media, and video conferencing.
    3. Execute regular and consistent donor communication through action plans within Sales Force, averaging 35+ outbound touchpoints/day.
    4. Create action plans using digital strategies to cultivate and solicit gifts from individuals to reach predetermined metrics to increase participation through retention, renewal, and acquisition of new donors.
    5. Identify potential major/planned gift prospects to effectively collaborate with other members of the Development team to transition as the donor's capacity and interest in UND grows.

    DONOR RELATIONS/STEWARDSHIP

    1. Demonstrate to donors the impact of their giving. Provide information on University department and programs relative to their interests.
    2. Share upcoming opportunities to attend events, volunteer, participate in Alumni Association activities, or otherwise deepen their engagement with the University.
    3. Identify and engage with alumni influencers in the digital and social media realms.

    CONTENT MANAGEMENT

    1. Create introduction videos, emails, and messaging.
    2. Create action plans that tie to the donors giving, interests and milestones.
    3. Create impact statements based on donor interests.
    4. Utilize UND Today, Alumni Magazine, and other marketing pieces to show the need and the impact personalized to donor interests.
    5. Other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    Education: Bachelor's degree required in a related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered.

    Experience: 1-3 years' experience in direct sales, fundraising, or marketing preferred; Knowledge of the University of North Dakota colleges, programs, athletics preferred.

    PHYSICAL & COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS

    Ability to operate computers, telephones, and other standard office equipment. Ability to focus and complete work in a timely manner. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Ability to travel independently via car and air. Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, squat, and lift or move objects up to 10 pounds.

    • Create strong professional connections across mediums, especially via video conferencing
    • Provide excellent customer service
    • Comfortably solicit donors and articulate a strong and compelling case for support
    • Handle interpersonal relationships maturely, thoughtfully, and empathetically, including the ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
    • Ability to handle confidential material responsibly and interact professionally with a wide spectrum of individuals
