    Description

    Summary:

    This position is primarily responsible for providing general nursing care to patients in hospital, nursing home, infirmary, or similar health care facility.

    This position is also responsible for directing the daily workflow assigned to specific work section(s), including work assignments and result review; monitoring the competency and performance of employees within the scope of the work section; and ensuring procedures and methods are performed according to section protocol, including quality control and regulatory requirements by performing the following duties.


    Essential Functions:

    • Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    • Ensures that effective, quality, outcome-focused nursing care is delivered
    • Develops individualized plans of care in collaboration with the resident/responsible party and interdisciplinary care team
    • Supervises - Licensed Practical Nurses, and Aides
    • Works Closely With - All departments, patients, and family members.
    • Scheduling hours and assigning nurses to particular patients.
    • Ensures availability via phone or beeper 24 hour/7 days a week to address emergencies, or acute issues including staffing coverage.
    • Evaluates team to ensure they are giving the best care possible to their patients.
    • Ensures that continuing education and staff development activities are available to all employees on a regular basis.
    • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
    • Accomplishes nursing human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to policies and procedures.
    • Meets nursing operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying system improvements.
    • Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
    • Completes patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing and staff; following up on work results.
    • Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
    • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by monitoring confidential information processing.
    • Maintains documentation of patient care services by auditing patient and department records

    RequirementsEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; Registered Nurse License in theDistrict of Columbia and/or Maryland (if applicable); one to two years related experience and/ortraining; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
