    Rogers Group, headquartered in Nashville, TN is a 115-year-old privately held aggregates and asphalt highway construction services company with quarry and asphalt construction operations in 10 states with 3,000 employees. The company has the distinction of being recognized as the largest privately held aggregate producer in the United States.

    We are searching for a hands-on professional able to bring new skillsets to our business development team. The ideal candidate will learn new skills quickly while working in a multidisciplinary environment. This position will be based in Knoxville, Nashville, Columbia, Cookeville, or Huntsville with travel throughout the Southeast as needed. Our Business Development team is responsible for evaluating and negotiating real-estate and operating-business acquisition opportunities to facilitate Rogers Group's growth and expansion. The team negotiates deal terms with brokers and sellers, leads and coordinates all internal and external due-diligence work, takes acquisitions to closing following management and board approval, and helps to facilitate post-closing integration. The position reports to the Director of Business Development.

    Experiences and Expectations:

    • Identifies and develops new and existing leads related to companies and greenfield properties that can be acquired.

    • Builds relationships with landowners and owners of target businesses.

    • Project manages both internal and external resources leading to successful acquisition and integration.

    • Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary team and able to coordinate a variety of due diligence project tasks.

    • Able to comprehend financial statements and assist in the creation of acquisition models and presentations.

    • Has experience in one or more of the following fields: mining engineering, civil construction, environmental permitting, local zoning, geology, commercial real estate, project management, class 1 railroads, market analysis, financial analysis and/or capital planning.

    • Tracks businesses in our sector and identifies emerging business trends.

    • Helps to shape the company's long-term objectives and plans for how to meet them.

    • Researches and identifies new markets.

    • Travels to evaluate markets, prospective target businesses and Greenfields, and new/emerging business opportunities.

    Qualifications/Skills:

    • Relationship management and negotiation skills.

    • Financial and business acumen and strategic planning skills.

    • Successful project management of acquisitions and their integration.

    • Market and product knowledge in the construction-aggregates space and the mining sector generally.

    • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely about company culture to outsiders, including owners of prospective target businesses and landowners who are unfamiliar with Rogers Group.

    Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, geology, finance, business administration, or related field. Master's degree a plus.

    • 3+ years' experience in one or more of the following: mine or civil engineering, environmental engineering, geology, project management, project finance, commercial real estate, mine operations, or related areas.
