    Candle is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all aspects of consolidation and financial reporting at Candle as the company experiences a period of exciting growth and expansion.

    The individual will be responsible for building and overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Candle Media accounting team, including oversight and consolidation of our subsidiary businesses.

    In this role, you will partner closely with the senior management team and play a key role for the accounting operations of our rapidly growing company.

    You must be a hands-on, roll up your sleeves type of manager and should enjoy a fast-paced, start-up like environment.

    You will be responsible for providing accounting expertise, improvement of financial processes and development of a high performing accounting team.

    The ideal candidate is an energized, detail-oriented, process minded individual with deep knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.

    She/he should possess an enthusiasm to join at the ground level in a highly passionate, fast-paced and execution- oriented organization.


    What You Will Do:
    Provide strong accounting and financial leadership to ensure the integrity of the financial statements and conformance with standard GAAP accounting
    Lead effective

    monthly/quarterly/annual

    closing processes to support analyses that foster a deeper understanding of the business that impacts future performance
    Design and maintain company consolidation process to maximize efficiency
    Work closely with the team to prepare and issue quarterly and annual GAAP financial statements including footnotes and MD&A
    You'll be responsible for consolidations accounting, accounting policy adherence and implementation, improving internal audit procedures and controls, and driving implementation
    Maintain strong internal control, manage financial audits, and serve as the main point of contact with external auditors
    Own month-end close fluctuation analytics, reconciliations, consolidations and posting entries for different entities to ensure accurate recording and elimination of transactions between affiliated companies
    Oversee accounting matters for all subsidiaries and provide guidance as needed for all accounting matters
    Partner with FP&A team to support cash and GAAP forecasting, budgeting, and reporting, providing "big picture" analytical and strategic insight to drive the architecture of accounting systems, processes, and procedures to support these functions
    Coordinate with tax team to provide information required to support tax compliance and planning initiatives
    Assist in establishing short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
    Assess control environment through review of control activities; identify and concentrate on improvement opportunities in key, high risk areas
    Provide recommendations for new products to improve operational effectiveness and serve as a key resource for system implementations including ERP systems
    Manage execution and successful completion of the year-end audit
    Preparation of operational and ad hoc reporting as required

    Requirements
    10 or more years accounting experience including consolidation of multiple businesses
    Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred
    Prior experience in a private-equity backed company a plus
    Ideal experience working in public accounting; entertainment industry; startup environments
    Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley Act is a plus
    Deep working technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and key principles of application for a wide array of finance and accounting areas
    Detail oriented with superior organization and excellent analytical skills
    Previous experience utilizing ERP systems required, Netsuite preferred
    Demonstrated history of leading, building, and managing highly effective teams
    Impactful business partner with strong communications and presentation skills able to effectively collaborate across departments and build trusted relationships
    Advanced Excel skills with experience working with popular startup/early-stage solutions

    Benefits
    The base salary range for this role is between $200,000 - $250,000
