POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITITION TITLE

Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Valid Arizona State Teaching Certificate for the elementary, middle or secondary level.
  2. Valid Arizona State Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
  3. Bachelor's Degree in elementary, middle or secondary education.
  4. Fifteen (15) hours of State approved Structured English Immersion (SEI) coursework.
  5. Successful middle school student teaching experience preferred.
  6. Must meet Arizona Department of Education appropriately certified requirements.
  7. Structured English Immersion (SEI) or English as a Second Language endorsement.

Middle School Principal

JOB GOAL

To create a flexible middle school grade program and a class needed to make the teaching team most effective in its positive influence on each student.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Implements by instruction and action, the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  2. Implements the school's North Central Accreditation (NCA) vision, mission and beliefs.
  3. Plans and guides instruction in alignment with the District standards and benchmarks.
  4. Plans and guides instruction to attain NCA target goals.
  5. Cores academic teachers participate in all team meetings.
  6. Integrates technology into instructional plans to ensure all students learn to maximize the benefits of technology in their learning.
  7. Administers group and individual standardized tests, DAP, and other tests in accordance with the District's testing program.
  8. Uses test results to improve and modify instruction.
  9. Writes weekly lesson plans in alignment with standards and benchmarks and submits to the principal.
  10. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals and objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
  11. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional and media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided.
  12. Creates a classroom environment that is conductive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  13. Assesses accomplishments of students and provides progress reports as required.
  14. Maintains complete and accurate records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
  15. Screens all students, as required or beneficial to the student and the program, and refers to District specialists for diagnosis those students suspected of having learning disabilities.
  16. Works with District, building, grade level, and subject area committees to insure thoroughness and efficiency in meeting learning objectives.
  17. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom and on the play areas.
  18. Implements consistently the school-wide discipline and tardy policy.
  19. Keeps the principal and other appropriate staff members informed as to matters affecting students under their supervision, school policy, and the educational program.
  20. Takes all necessary reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities while on duty and reports the vandalism and theft of school property as situations occur.
  21. Supervises students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips, and other times as need or requested.
  22. Communicates with and interprets for parents and District personnel the students' progress, through conferences, reports, other means.
  23. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct.
  24. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
  25. Attends all orientation and staff meetings and serves on staff and District committees as required.
  26. Works within the evaluation system established by the Governing Board.
  27. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Nine and one-half (9.5) months a year.
