POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the overall operations of the Juvenile Detention Health Care Services (DHCS) units, oversees operations of the medical and mental health programs; supervises professional/managerial staff; responds to grievances and incident reports; and performs other related duties as required.
Responsible for monitoring contracts for the department and for collaborating with other agencies, departments, government entities and local law enforcement and judicial to achieve organizational goals.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited university with 5 years' experience including administrative supervisory duties and correctional facility services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Considerable knowledge in the following areas:
strategic planning, program evaluation, budget analysis, preparation, and policy development. Skill in supervising professional/managerial employees.
Ability to interpret legal service contracts; ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, Health System employees, government agencies, inmates, outside organizations and the general public.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONMust secure and maintain a favorable background investigation from the Bexar County Sheriff's Department or the Juvenile Probation Department.
