    H-GACs Water Resources team has an exciting opportunity for a program specialist. You will be part of a team that is working to conduct ambient water quality monitoring that will help determine if area water bodies are meeting State water quality standards. In addition, you will help find illicit sources of bacteria that are making their way into local water bodies and creating unsafe conditions for contact recreation. In this role you will be conducting analysis on aerial imagery for priority watersheds, working as part of a team conducting windshield surveys and walking the banks of local streams to find potential sources of bacteria and document their location with a Global Positioning System and photos. The selected candidate must be detail-oriented and be able to organize work and files to hand off to other staff and contractors to initiate targeted bacteria monitoring. Will also assist with H-GACs Wastewater Assistance Program, helping to verify failing residential septic systems and collecting paperwork from potential clients to verify eligibility for the program. Will work with vendors to obtain quotes and schedule work.

    **Key Qualifications**

    Experience using water quality monitoring field equipment.

    Ability to read and interpret maps and plats.

    Ability to work outside, get up and downstream banks, wade in streams.

    Communicate effectively in-person as well as, remote working platforms (i.e. Teams or Zoom)

    The successful candidate will have at a minimum:

    High School Diploma

    One (1) year of experience in environmental planning, water resources, or related field.

    Preferred qualifications include:

    Three (3) years experience in environmental planning, water resources, or a related field.

    **Do you have**

    Bachelors degree with an internship in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study

    Less than 1 year of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, human service, or in job-related duties
