- Review medical history, evaluate patients, and determine proper methods of anesthesia
- Accurately measure and monitor the level and speed at which anesthesia is administered
- Monitor patient's vital signs to ensure safety
- Inform the surgeon if a patient becomes unstable
- Attend to patient's needs before, during, and after surgery
- Oversee patient recovery from anesthesia
- Ensure that physician orders are followed for all patients
- Apply knowledge, skill, and judgment in providing all patient care
- Promote and participate in providing accurate recording of medications and treatments given to patients
- Promote the improvement of nursing care within the Center
- Conform to and promote acceptance of established objectives, policies, and procedures
- Assist in maintaining stock of supplies and equipment for the Center and promote proper utilization of all
- Maintain Center drugs and reorders as needed; monitor for outdated stock and follows proper disposal procedures; maintain emergency cart, equipment, and drugs
- Follow the chain of command communicating reportable situations to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner
- Maintain confidentiality of management information; display discretion and good judgment in communication methods
- Adhere to all approved Center policies and procedures; notifies supervisor of any deviation from approved policy
- Assists in the orientation of new employees to the Center
- Displays ability to accept counseling from direct supervisor in a positive manner
- Displays ability to and desire to initiate corrective action
- Become familiar with the Center's Fire, Safety, and Disaster Plan, and his/her role in the event of each
- Displays cost-effectiveness in materials management; assume responsibility for timely verification of supplies used in the Center
- Maintain satisfactory attendance; notify supervisor if unable to report to work
- Punctual in arriving for duty on assigned days
- Graduate of an accredited school of anesthesia nursing
- Current APRN registration with the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners
- Evidence of current NBCRNA certification
- Evidence of current BLS certification
- Evidence of current ACLS certification
- Adequate clinical knowledge and skills to plan, evaluate, and perform the quality of nursing care that meets the standards of nursing established by the Center
- Cognizant of established safety regulations
- Knowledgeable of techniques to prevent the spread of disease and an awareness that the job may require contact with communicable diseases
- Knowledge of emergency equipment/drugs with the ability to react promptly and professionally in any situation

Job DescriptionDescription:The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) will perform a variety of duties to ensure that quality nursing care is provided in an atmosphere that maintains the privacy, dignity, and well-being of patients.
The CRNA administers sedatives and/or anesthetics to patients and works under the direction of the operating physician and collaborates with the operating room staff. They are responsible for knowing a patient's history and condition, and anticipating how he or she might respond to anesthetics and developing and implementing a plan in response to a patient's condition.
