    The ShiftSupervisor provides responsible supervision of the administrativeand operational security activities and staff on a specific shiftin a facility.

    • Directlysupervise and manage operations of security staff andinmates/residents on the shift in the performance of theirduties.
    • Provide for adequatestaffing in areas supervised; fill in as needed during periods ofshort staffing.
    • Engage and participatein recruiting, hiring, orientating staff, and other staffing needsin areas supervised.
    • Makerecommendations concerning personnel matters and assist in theeffective management of facilityresources.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent isrequired.
    • Three years experience in a criminal justice field orother acceptable related field, which includes two years in asupervisorycapacity.
    • Additional education may be substitutedfor the experience on a year-for-yearbasis.
    • Completion of basic pre-servicecorrectional officer training and, where applicable, be acommissioned security officer licensed by the state ofemployment.
    • A valid driver's license isrequired.
    • Must demonstrate knowledge of the practices andprinciples of correctional facility management; pertinentcorrections laws, rules and regulations; and the principles andpractices of supervision andtraining.
      • MinimumAge Requirement: Must be at least 18years of age.
