    Description

    Atalaya is a privately held, SEC-registered alternative investment advisory firm managing approximately $10 billion of investor capital. Atalaya focuses primarily on making private credit and special opportunities investments across three asset classes (Specialty Finance, Corporate, and Real Estate). These investments target either a current yield or an absolute return, seeking to capitalize on the firm's deal sourcing relationships and 15 years of experience navigating various investment cycles and market conditions.

    Atalaya is seeking a Commercial Real Estate Associate to join our Asset Management team. The role will focus on supporting the Real Estate Team's asset and portfolio management objectives across over 200 transactions and $2.5 billion of deployed capital in both debt and equity placement. The Real Estate Associate will support the team through all stages of the deal life and be focused on asset management of a portfolio of equity investments. This person will additionally have exposure to real estate development. This position is in Dallas with flexibility to work remotely.

    Key responsibilities:

    Portfolio Monitoring & Management:

    • Oversee a Portfolio of equity and debt investments across an array of markets and product-types
    • Monitor and analyze the financial performance of the properties and portfolio
    • Evaluate and report asset performance vs. underwriting
    • Create transaction analysis, summaries, and memorandums for recommendations to senior staff and Investment Committee
    • Provide support for internal and or external investor presentations / deliverables
    • Develop strong relationships and effective communication with both internal and external investment participants

    Asset Management:

    • Create and maintain asset level cash flow models and reporting for internal management
    • As needed assist in (i) due diligence, (ii) sale vs. hold decisions, (iii) comparison of underwritten metrics to actual
    • Review reporting packages evaluate performance variances and trends
    • Analyze lease transactions to assist in leasing decisions
    • Create and manage construction and operating dashboards for distribution
    • Aggregate and synthesize key data to facilitate key metrics, themes, & risk/ mitigation plans.
    • Support valuation, audit, and budgeting processes
    • Coordinate requests for brokers, appraisers, or other internal / external parties
    • Prepare ad-hoc reports and assist with special projects as needed
    • Maintain strong knowledge//understanding of various markets

    Candidate Qualifications:

    • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commercial Real Estate (or other relevant degree)
    • 3-5 years of experience in commercial real estate with knowledge and understanding of both debt and equity strategies
    • Strong understanding of formal legal documents (joint venture agreements, leases, loan documents, etc.)
    • Advanced modeling/Microsoft Excel skills
    • Multifamily experience is a plus
    • Proficiency in Argus is a plus
    • Construction/Development experience a plus
    • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
