    Job Summary


    The Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program Director's responsibilities center on the continued development, implementation, and evaluation of the Peavy School of Nursing (PSON) BSN program, managing operations and essential collaborative relationships essential to the program's quality and outcomes.

    Mission/Philosophy


    Assure all undergraduate studies initiatives further the PSON mission, philosophy and framework and the mission of the University of St.

    Thomas (UST).

    Monitor integration of

    SON philosophy and framework

    in undergraduate studies.

    Facilitate the conditions and relationships that support PSON development as a holistic learning community

    Key Role Functions

    Facilitate BSN curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation in collaboration with the Division Dean, Undergraduate Programs, nursing faculty, and staff.

    Assure BSN curriculum integration of SON philosophy and framework

    and the

    ethical and religious directives of the Catholic Church for healthcare workers

    . HYPERLINK ERD

    Manage processes related to program maintenance, i.e. schedules, teaching assignments, collaborations on campus and with clinical agencies in collaboration with the Division Dean for Undergraduate Studies.

    Facilitate negotiations for clinical engagement of BSN students ensuring advocacy for clinical agency concerns and commitments.

    Oversee the faculty advising process for BSN students and support faculty in resolving problems/issues related to student academic performance.

    Oversee the students' successful progression through the BSN program including admission, progression, retention, and completion.

    Facilitate policies and procedures related to BSN program management, working collaboratively with the Graduate Program Director to integrate management decisions

    of the two programs of study.

    Assume a teaching workload that balances teaching and administrative duties.

    Assure that each faculty member /visiting professor/adjunct clinical faculty

    member is oriented to the BSN program objectives

    and completes all course preparation including all clinical learning experiences.


    Participate in the Peavy School of Nursing strategic planning process and contributes to the achievement of institutional goals and objectives related to on-line and distance programs.

    Participate in program evaluation and assist in compiling program data for accreditation and other official constituents.


    Participate with the Division Dean on hiring full-time and adjunct faculty within the mission, vision, and culture of the PSON and UST.

    Collaborate with university departments responsible for academic and student services for BSN students.

    Participate in

    service for the PSON and university through committees and official meetings.

    Participate in exploring teaching as a scholarly activity through engagement in publication, presentation, and reflection.


    Participate in local and regional planning and collaborative activities with community leaders, healthcare facilities, and other schools of nursing, particularly those focused on the emergence of BSN programs.


    Qualifications:
    Is licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in

    Have familiarity with the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, practicing Catholic preferred.

    Holds a

    minimum master's degree in nursing and, preferably, a doctorate in nursing or related

    Has at least five

    years of teaching experience in a professional nursing educational program.

    Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities in management within a professional nursing educational

    Has an attention to detail, is organized, and is innovative.

    Is familiar with professional nursing educational requirements and processes in Texas.

    Demonstrates strong collegial leadership

    Shows a commitment to and demonstrated excellence in teaching and

    Is certified in one or more nursing specialties.

    Is familiar with holistic nursing.

    Provides evidence of participation in professional, community, and/or Christian service organizations.

    Has experience in higher education including accreditation, program review, assessment,

    and evaluation.

    Has experience in program development, curriculum design, informatics, communications systems, and teaching in

    Has experience in simulation education and simulation best practices.

    Has a record of scholarly work and professional
