    Job Title: Floating Substitute Teacher

    Divisions: Lower School Substitute

    Reports to: Head of Lower School

    Summary: King is currently seeking energetic and motivated Floating Substitute Teacher candidates to support Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 5 student learning in core subject and specialty areas and if interested to serve in a coaching capacity. The Floating Substitute Teacher is responsible for helping to ensure the health and safety of our students throughout the school day. Candidates should have experience working with children and should have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree. This position will report to the Head of the Lower School and is for the academic year.

    The Floating Substitute Teacher is a full member of the King faculty. As a member of the faculty, the Floating Substitute Teacher is expected to understand and support King's mission, school culture, and operational practices. The Floating Substitute Teacher will maintain confidentiality, exhibit professional behavior, display a positive attitude, and demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and development. The Floating Substitute Teacher is expected to attend divisional and all-school faculty and staff meetings.

    Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Provide coverage and support in all areas of the Lower School for our Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 5 students in the absence of faculty members.
    • Other duties, as assigned by the Head of Lower School including – but not limited to – recess duty, lunch coverage, dismissal
    • Opportunities to coach in our Upper School athletics program will also exist for interested These positions will be paid at the approved stipend rates.

      Requirements:

      • Bachelor's degree.
      • Ability and willingness to facilitate differentiated, student-centered best practices.
      • Ability and willingness to encourage student discovery and autonomy of thought.
      • Possess a sound understanding of the developmental stages of elementary aged students
      • Experience working collaboratively with other adults in an early childhood setting.
      • A strong affinity for young children, flexibility, and a sense of humor.
      • Commitment to the social emotional and physical well-being of our students through the promotion of active and healthy lifestyles.
      • Proven ability to bring positivity and professionalism to the work environment.
      • Demonstrated cross-cultural competence--ability to effectively teach, learn, and engage in a multicultural environment with a diverse student body--in pedagogical practice and multicultural curriculum content.
      • Demonstrated capacity in culturally responsive professional practices, excellent communication skills, and ability to constructively collaborate with colleagues, students and
