    Overview:

    North Shore Associates in Gynecology and Obstetrics is expanding and seeking an additional full-time experienced Certified Nurse Midwife

    About the Practice

    Currently, we are a group of six certified nurse midwives (5.25 FTE). Our practice is seeking another midwife to join our group. Ideally, this would be a 1.0 FTE position. We see patients in two office locations (Wilmette and Glenview) and attend births at North Shore Hospital in Evanston. The hospital environment is very supportive and has had a strong midwifery presence for over thirty years. We are dedicated advocates of physiological birth for both low-risk and high-risk patients. We have a special focus on VBAC deliveries (success rate of 92% in 2022) and unmedicated birth (63% in We have a strong emphasis on promoting vaginal birth with an overall Cesarean Delivery Rate of 7% in 2022. We are typically awarded the ACNM Triple Aim Award based on benchmarking statistics every year. We have collaborative relationships with our physician colleagues. The ideal candidate will be a provider with a passion for advocating for patients, willing to provide the intense empathy and compassion and physical labor support that both the office setting and labor and delivery require.

    Schedule (for a full-time 1.0 position)

    • 17 hours of office visits weekly
    • Rotating 4 hour Saturday office every 6th week
    • 24 hour (7AM-7AM) call shifts, Approximately 5-6 shifts per month, but overall the equal share depending on FTE.
    • Commitment to monthly team meetings

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Full scope midwifery: Providing gynecological, contraceptive, prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and primary healthcare
    • Conducts comprehensive assessments of patients health status by taking health histories and performing advanced physical examinations in specialty area
    • Performs testing, referral to physicians as needed, writes prescriptions, and performs medical procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment according to clinical privileges
    • Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests to establish diagnoses and develop a comprehensive treatment plan
    • Admitting assessments, inpatient care, and coordination of the discharge planning process with patients, families, and all members of the multidisciplinary team
    • Schedules return appointments for follow-up care, as necessary, according to best practice standards of care
    • Reassessment and modification of care plan as necessary to achieve goals
    • Consults with other specialties and disciplines as appropriate to meet all health care needs of patients

    Experience

    • Prior experience in obstetrical, reproductive, and sexual health preferred
    • Prior experience in full-scope CNM preferred, but not required

    License/Certifications

    • Certification or Licensure: Illinois Professional Registered Nurse License and Advance Practice Nurse License.
    • Certification by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (AMCB)
    • Certificate Maintenance Program with the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB)
    • DEA License
    • Controlled Substance License
    • Current CPR/NRP certification
