Job Title: Research Data Management Librarian

Summary:

Northwestern University Libraries is seeking a Data Management Librarian to assist faculty, students, and staff in managing their research data. The ideal candidate will provide guidance on data management planning, finding datasets, data organization, and sharing research data while ensuring compliance with relevant policies. This position involves teaching workshops, conducting consultations, and offering services to support research at Northwestern University.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and oversee the development and delivery of data management services
Ensure compliance with federal funding requirements for data management
Provide training and consultation on research data management policies
Facilitate accessibility of data to diverse audiences
Integrate best practices from library sciences and related fields
Offer guidance on data management tools and platforms
Collaborate with departments to implement data management services
Develop relationships with the research community for collaborations

Competencies:

Ability to understand user goals and translate them into actionable plans
Knowledge of best practices in data management
Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
Demonstrated knowledge in data lifecycle practices
Strong project management and prioritization skills
Leadership skills for effective team collaboration

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in library science or related field
2+ years of experience in providing data management services
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Active membership in professional organizations
