This posting is in anticipation of future openings for Mechanic Helpers at Red River Army Depot.

Assists one or more workers in the skilled maintenance trades by performing specific or general duties of lesser skill, such as keeping a worker supplied with materials and tools, cleaning working area, machine and equipment, assisting mechanics by holding materials or tools, and performing other unskilled tasks as directed by the mechanics.

Performs a variety of tasks such as washing, lubricating, loading, unloading, and storing automotive parts and supplies.
May be allowed to perform specialized machine operations, or parts of a trade that are also performed by workers.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.

Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
Position may require travel.

As appropriate, each employee is responsible for completing all training requirements and fulfilling all self-aid/buddy aid responsibilities, participating in emergency response tasks and serving on safety committees and teams.

Army combat and tactical equipment preferred.
Relevant experience gained in commercial production control position is acceptable.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization

US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

Must be able to complete paperwork associated with vehicle maintenance and repairs.
Ability to manipulate and use hand tools and hydraulic equipment.
Must be available for any shift.
Willing to work weekends and other hours as needed.
Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.

Work on this contract is performed at the Red River Army Depot. Access to the Depot requires all covered individuals to be registered with the United States Selective Service.
