    The Operations Manager reports to the Terminal Director and is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations and customer service functions of the assigned terminal(s), responsible for operations team members' training, development, and performance. The Operations Manager leads a safe and efficient operation that delivers best-in-class customer service, leaving our customers feeling as though their lives are easier for the partnership we develop. The Operations Manager works with stakeholders and partners in Maintenance, Electrical & Instrumentation, EHS, Quality, and Colonial shared services and support groups to ensure a continuous improvement mindset in effort to achieve best-in-class service performance.

    Operations Manager levels I and II are based on facility scope. Facility scope includes factors like revenue, NIBT, assets, employee headcount, modes of transportation, disciplines, storage capacity, acreage, regulatory relationships, and more. A greater or more complex scope corresponds with the level of Operations Manager a facility is assigned.

    JOB EXPECTATIONS/DUTIES

    • Ownership and responsibility for the day-to-day Operations and Customer Service functions within a specific terminal location, focused on the execution of 1-2-year plans to achieve long-term operational objectives.
    • Ensures efficient daily terminal operations.
    • Recommends and advocates for changes impacting their team, customers, and service delivery to include identifying opportunities, anticipating challenges, and leading change as required.
    • Sets clear expectations aligned with the company's objectives for Operations and Customer Service and maintains accountability for performance.
    • Supports necessary resources and training for the operations talent to be successful.
    • Leads performance management for reporting team members.
    • Acts as communication liaison between front-line employees and leadership.
    • Leads all aspects of safety and quality programs and encourages participation throughout the team.
    • Ensures incident investigation and reporting are completed utilizing company supported systems with the objective of learning from mistakes to help individuals and the team become stronger.
    • Supports continuous improvement efforts throughout the day-to-day operations and related tasks.
    • Directly partners with maintenance and E&I support to ensure standards are upheld.
    • Maintains excellent internal and external customer relationships.
    • Ensures best-in-class service, including handling, receipt, delivery, custody, and care of customer products.
    • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, and disciplines operational team members consistent with Colonial's values.
    • Supports a positive culture and valuable team engagement levels.
    • Supports day-to-day operational financial and budgetary performance.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
    • Previous supervisory experience required. 5+ years of transportation, terminal or intermodal supervisory or management experience preferred.
    • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written.
    • Excellent personal and people leadership.
    • Problem solving and critical thinking skills.
    • Proficient in computing systems and skills including Microsoft programs Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.
    • Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions: Heat, Cold, Wind, and Rain.
    • Must be able to support an organization operating 24/7.
