Certified Youth Peer Supporter
Overview
Now more than ever, mental and behavioral health care for kids is needed in our community. Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health is looking to meet the growing demands by hiring a full-time Certified Youth Peer Supporter.
As a member of our team, you will help children, youth and families successfully meet life's challenges by offering the emotional and behavioral health support they need. We are a collaborative network of child therapists, psychiatrists, PMHNPs, case managers, school staff, community partners and other mental health professionals working toward a common goal. Together, we provide a positive environment for kids and their families to find health, hope and happiness.

Job Duties/Description
Provide positive peer role modeling, emotional support, and life skills to youth and young adults with mental, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges in our community.
Qualifications
A Certified Youth Peer Supporter (CYPS) is someone who has direct lived experience with behavioral health challenges (mental health/substance use disorder) and who is between the ages of 18-30.
CYPS are unique in that they have been impacted by behavioral health challenges while they were a part of the child-serving system. A CYPS is trained to use their lived experience to help youth/young adults advocate for services and systems supports. A CYPS also work with youth/young adults to create and maintain positive peer interactions that promote wellness, resiliency and recovery. They promote youth-guided practices that focus on strengths as part of the solution and ensure that youth/young adults participate in all aspects of their care.
The Ideal candidate is a young adult who has been a past recipient of services in the child-serving system (mental health, foster care, juvenile justice). Must have desire and ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor to youth in need of direction and support. Candidate must have a valid driver's license, auto insurance and use of personal vehicle. Youth peer certification is required; you will be required to attend trainings to become a certified peer if you do not already hold this certification.

We have four locations in Stark County including downtown Canton, Belden Village, Alliance, and Plain Township. This position is at the downtown Canton office location.
Salary Range/Compensation: Salary and compensation will be based upon licensure status and direct care hours provided. Full time employees are eligible for full medical benefits, life insurance, paid time off and matched retirement plans.
Hours: Full-time. Some evening hours required.
