    Dates: June 17- July 18, 2024 (June 19 & July 4 district closed)
    (Mondays-Thursdays only)
    Hours: 8:30am-1:00
    Pay: According to the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    The YCSD Summer BOP Academy is seeking teachers for grades K-8 to provide instruction for Summer program. A YCSD School Summer BOP Academy Teacher must demonstrate the vision and passion necessary to lead an innovative program dedicated to educational enrichment and academic excellence. S/he shall report to the YCSD School Summer BOP Academy Program Supervisor, and will be expected to work collaboratively and effectively with the YCSD School Summer BOP Academy Program Supervisor as well as with all YCSD School Summer BOP Academy staff.
    A YCSD School Summer BOP Academy Teacher is expected to be present each day, demonstrate an appropriate professional decorum, promote an atmosphere conducive to learning, exhibit a customer- service mindset, manage deadlines, and maintain discipline with energy, integrity, creativity, and drive.
    A YCSD School Summer BOP Academy Teacher is responsible for the planning, coordination, and implementation of student lessons in reading/writing, mathematics, and character education in accordance to the School District of the City of York's polices and the YCSD School Summer BOP Academy goals. Classroom duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    Daily
    • Help deliver targeted and intensive reading/writing and mathematics instruction with a structured, regular routine.
    • Assist with 60-minute daily lesson for reading/writing and mathematics.
    • Establish high expectations and classroom routines to maximize student engagement and to minimize off-task behaviors.
    • Develop strong relationships with students, and strong relationships among students.
    • Assist with character education development by teaching lessons as determined by an assigned scheduled
    • Actively establish student routines and self-discipline.
    • Assist with assessments and measuring student progress.
    • Maintain accurate student attendance including tardiness.
    • Greet students at the classroom door.
    • Distribute breakfast to students.
    • Escort students to the cafeteria for lunch and dismissal.
    • Help with next day's lessons ready for classroom when departing for the day.
    • Respect "host" classrooms
    Weekly
    • Communicate with parents about specific instructional and behavioral data of students (3 telephone contacts/per student for the program)
    • Help Complete progress reports to send home to parents on Thursdays.
    • Help Complete parent telephone contact logs
    End of Program
    • Inventory all program materials and return to program Supervisor
    • Return "host" classroom to its original configuration.
    • Complete a program evaluation
