Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Director of Career Services, the Graduate Assistant provides assistance with a variety of projects, events and activities that support the work of the Office of Career Services.
As a department within the division of Academic Affairs, Career Services provides comprehensive career assistance and service to meet the employment needs of Lewis University students.
Program offerings at Career Services include:
career counseling, decision making, exploration and planning; academic advising to students with undeclared majors or considering changing majors; resume, networking, and interview skill development; job and internship fairs; workshops and classroom presentations on career related topics; online resources including access to job/internship posting database systems; assistance with graduate school preparation.
ResponsibilitiesResponsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration, and active support of the University's Mission in Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Admission into one of the following graduate school programs:
Organizational Leadership; Higher Education; Counseling; Communications; Information Technology; or other program wherein this experience would be relevant to the applicant's career goals.
Available to work during Career Services business hours and evenings or weekends on an as-needed basis. Interest in learning and helping others with career and employment plan development. Ability to work in a team and independently based on projects and activities. Excellent English written and oral communication skills. Understand professional and ethical behaviors in the workplace. Strong organizational skills. Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.Preferred Qualifications
Customer service experience. Experience working with culturally diverse students/clients. Experience teaching or delivering workshops or training. Job search experience. Experience with social media and/or instructional technology.
