Overview
Join our dynamic team as an Underground Utility Telecom Construction Specialist, where you'll be at the forefront of installing and maintaining critical telecommunications infrastructure beneath the ground. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on essential projects that keep communities connected and enable cutting-edge communication services. You will be responsible for executing construction tasks safely, efficiently, and with precision, ensuring the reliable deployment of underground utility lines that form the backbone of modern communication networks.
Duties
- Assist in the excavation, trenching, and installation of underground telecom cables and conduits according to project specifications.
- Operate construction tools and machinery safely to prepare sites for utility installation.
- Install, connect, and test underground fiber optic and copper cables to ensure optimal performance.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures diligently to prevent accidents and maintain a secure work environment.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and team members to coordinate work schedules and meet project deadlines.
- Conduct inspections of installed utilities to verify quality standards and compliance with industry regulations.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, materials used, and site conditions for project documentation.
Experience
- Previous experience in underground utility construction or telecommunications installation is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of trenching, conduit placement, cable pulling, and related construction techniques.
- Familiarity with safety standards such as OSHA regulations related to excavation and utility work.
- Ability to operate construction equipment such as trenchers, backhoes, or cable plows is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills to address on-site challenges effectively.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with team members and reporting progress accurately.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks including lifting heavy materials, working in confined spaces, and standing for extended periods.
