    JOB PURPOSE:
    The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for accurately preparing, processing, receiving, and documenting inbound and outbound shipments of products and materials. This role ensures all shipments and receipts meet company standards, customer requirements, and safety regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing or warehouse environment while supporting inventory accuracy and on-time delivery performance.
    ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Prepare, package, and stage outgoing shipments in accordance with company procedures and customer specifications.
    • Receive inbound shipments, verify quantities, inspect materials for damage, and ensure accurate documentation.
    • Create, review, and maintain shipping and receiving documentation including packing lists, bills of lading, shipping labels, and receiving logs.
    • Verify product codes, quantities, lot numbers, and documentation for accuracy prior to shipment or inventory posting.
    • Coordinate with carriers, freight companies, and internal teams to schedule pickups, deliveries, and track shipment status.
    • Accurately enter shipping and receiving transactions into the company's inventory and ERP systems.
    • Assist with inventory control activities including cycle counts, physical inventories, and stock organization.
    • Properly label, store, and transfer materials to designated locations within the facility.
    • Identify and resolve shipping or receiving discrepancies, shortages, damages, or documentation errors.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping and receiving area in compliance with safety and quality standards.
    • Follow all safety procedures, material handling guidelines, and SQF/ISO requirements.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to shipping, receiving, and inventory accuracy.
    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or manufacturing environments preferred.
    • Familiarity with inventory systems, ERP software, or shipping platforms preferred.
    • Forklift or material handling equipment preferred (certification a plus or willingness to obtain).
    SKILLS:
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Basic computer skills, including data entry and use of inventory or shipping systems.
    • Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, labels, and work instructions.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Problem-solving skills to address discrepancies or shipping issues.
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:
    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
    • Ability to lift, push, or pull 25-50 lbs. occasionally.
    • Frequent use of hands for packaging, labeling, scanning, and operating equipment.
    • Exposure to manufacturing noise, heat, and moving machinery.
    • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
    • Work performed primarily on the production floor, shipping dock, and receiving areas.
