Job Description

Summary: Professional opportunity available for a full-time optician in a fast paced ophthalmology and optometry practice located in the heart of Beverly Hills. Important Candidate qualifications include: being a team player; detail oriented; professional demeanor; able to establish a rapport with patients; efficient; empathetic; demonstrate analytical abilities; and the ability to problem solve. Candidates should present a positive attitude, be mature, responsible, and reliable while delivering outstanding professional service to our patients. Applicants should ideally have past work experience as an optician and be interested in a long-term employment position.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: The optician works in the optical dispensary located in the lobby of the practice. The optical dispensary carries a large selection of high quality name brand frames. Patients in the practice are examined by the ophthalmologist and four optometrists and prescriptions are brought with the patient to the optician. Optician responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Helping patients choose appropriate frames and styles for the patient's face, specifications, needs and desires

Making measurements of pupillary distance, seg heights, and fitting of frames to the patient's face

Helping patients understand and choose coatings and tints for their eyeglasses

Using specialized equipment including lensometers, lens gauges and calipers

Preparing work orders and sending them to the optical labs, interfacing with the labs, including private labs and VSP lab

Receiving glasses back from the lab, calling patients and fitting and adjusting the eyeglasses

Keeping inventory of frames to ensure product variety and patient satisfaction and keeping up with the latest styles and trends. This includes meeting with optical representatives

Repair eyeglasses as needed

Collecting payments for glasses and contact lens orders, entering them in Officemate software program

Managing contact lens orders
