    Responsibilities:

    • Supervise and manage the company's trademark and patent portfolio, including conducting clearance reviews, applying for registrations, and promptly addressing necessary actions to uphold registration status.
    • Evaluate and negotiate agreements between the company and clients, business partners, and service providers, such as non-disclosure agreements, professional services contracts, and licensing agreements.
    • Develop license agreements to safeguard our intellectual property (IP) assets and facilitate the acquisition of licenses for utilizing IP owned by others in various business ventures.
    • Offer counsel and recommendations to managers and business executives on trademarks, patents, copyrights, and branding matters, encompassing clearance searches, strategic planning, and portfolio maintenance.
    • Contribute to special projects and conduct legal research as required.

    Requirements:

    • Profound understanding and practical experience in trademarks, patents, and copyrights, including:
    • Counseling on U.S. and international trademark and patent matters, clearance, and prosecution, encompassing analysis of clearance searches and crafting substantive responses to PTO office actions.
    • Preparation and submission of trademark and patent applications to the USPTO, including international filings.
    • Oversight of domestic and international trademark and patent portfolios, including addressing action items and managing prosecution.
    • Preparation for and response to cease-and-desist letters, and handling enforcement matters such as TTAB and PTAB proceedings (oppositions and cancellations), and issues regarding trademark usage on social media platforms.
    • Familiarity with copyright law.
    • Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements with clients, partners, or service providers, preferably including IP licensing/merchandising agreements.
    • Knowledge or familiarity with creative review, advertising laws, publicity rights, and social media regulations.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and a demanding workload effectively.
    • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

    Required qualifications:

    • Possession of a Juris Doctor degree and admission to the bar in at least one U.S. state.
    • Minimum of 10 years' experience in trademark, copyright, and patent law, gained from either a law firm or in-house role.
    • Acquire a thorough understanding of the company's structure, mission, goals, and policies promptly.
    • Possession of a valid driver's license.
    • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
    • Authorization to work legally in the United States of America.
