    The Counseling Manager is responsible for managing counseling unites to insure that needed counseling services are available for and provided to all trainees.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Demonstrates and abides by the Company Core Values, company operating principles, Career Success Standards.
    • Is actively involved in center leadership, providing guidance and inspiration for team members at all levels.
    • This is a supervisory management position. This position will be required to serve on a rotating basis as the senior weekend duty officer, which entail being on call by phone, reporting to the Center in an emergency, and briefing management on events over the weekend.
    • Assists students in adjusting to Center life to enhance student retention by providing supervision, behavior modification, counseling, and by acting as a positive role model and mentor.
    • Employee provides, and ensures staff assigned to their supervision provide, services that meet the needs of students in a timely professional manner with the highest degree of customer service in mind.
    • Adheres to all Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Maintains confidentiality but reports significant events or situations immediately through approved channels to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff, and to ensure that required reporting occurs, and that students receive emergency services as needed.
    • Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to students in the event of injury, illness, or emotional trauma.
    • Serves as a member of the Center's Sexual Assault Response Team.
    • Ensures equipment and assigned work areas are clean and maintained in accordance with company, state, and federal standards. Conducts quarterly property counts, submits property relocation requests as needed, may serve as a property custodian, and submits maintenance requests as needed.
    • Supervises assigned staff, reviews and approves requests for time off, and may be required to arrange substitute staff coverage. Reviews for accuracy and approves assigned staff timesheets.
    • Conducts interviews of perspective new employees and makes recommendations for, or against hire, based on applicant qualifications and experience, and in compliance with state and Federal laws, and company policy.
    • Conducts formal performance evaluations for staff under supervision in timely manner and provides regular and ongoing performance feedback.
    • Responsible for the performance management of all employees under supervision including issuing Behavior Modification Agreements in conjunction with Human Resources and following the chain of command in accordance with the company's code of staff conduct.
    • Responsible for ensuring that assigned staff under supervision maintain an orderly, safe, clean and healthy living environment within areas of responsibility.
    • Assists in preparing staff schedule and weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as assigned.

    • May be assigned to supervise an activity, a special event (either on or off center), or in other program areas as assigned on a temporary, periodic, or regular basis.
    • Responsible to review student records, student files, case notes, forms and report accuracy, to ensure they are complete, timely, and in compliance with PRH and company polices. Ensures all students receive evaluations within required timeframes.
    • Plans and manages the counseling program and supervise counselors.
    • Provides on-going management and guidance to counselors in caseload management, case documentation and counseling techniques.
    • Participates in weekly case meetings with counselors and Mental Health Consultant.
    • Establishes performance standards to evaluate counselors' effectiveness and prepares Employee Development Plans to improve professional development.
    • Holds periodic case conferences for at risk students.
    • Maintains communication with the parents of minor students and community partners.
    • Ensures that the counseling program is in accordance with Job Corps policy.
    • Provides agency resource contacts for counselors.
    • Assists counselors in group counseling.
    • Acts as a resource leader and trainer for other staff in areas relating to counseling.
    • Ensures counseling case documentation is up-to-date and available for Department of Labor and corporate audits.
    • May maintain an individual trainee caseload.
    • Conducts in-service training sessions for departmental staff.
    • Responsible for insuring that departmental equal employment and affirmative action goals and objectives are met.
    • Provides and attends required staff training sessions.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    Requirements:

    Minimum: Five years experience in counseling or related field, and two years experience working with youth and young adults.

    Preferred: Minimum plus Previous Job Corps experience

    Knowledge: Sound knowledge of counseling and supervisory techniques. Must be able to effectively communicate with culturally disadvantaged and minority youth. Ability to obtain a state driver's license. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Must obtain and maintain valid CPR/FA certification. Good organizational skills. Ability to inspire and motivate staff.
