Job Summary:

The HOLT Ready Tech Technician is an entry-level diesel technician training/mentorship program. We are accepting applications from individuals who would like to prepare for a career working as a heavy equipment mechanic with our Power Systems Division. The ideal candidate would have a mechanical aptitude, work experience in the mechanical industry, and an opportunity to work as a diesel technician in the equipment industry. Candidates will complete online and classroom coursework and perform on-the-job training (OJT) while learning and developing as a technicians. Our 12-week training program is designed to upskill and train individuals like you into full-time shop technicians.

This mechanic position is responsible for providing high-quality teardown, inspecting, and repairing power generation industrial engines (natural gas and diesel), and ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches) in a shop environment, following established procedures and guidelines.

Essential Functions:

• Gain knowledge in the following areas via online, classroom, and on-the-job (OJT) training:
  • Safety, Preventive Maintenance, and Technician Basics
  • Electrical Fundamentals
  • Diesel Engine Fundamentals
  • Frac Engines Fundamentals
  • Arc Flash/CEP Fundamentals
• Assists mentor technician with the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment
• Assists mentor technician with installation, repairs, maintenance, and replacement of mechanical and electrical components
• Assists mentor technician with the examination and testing of equipment, components, and parts to ensure proper functioning
• Assists mentor technician in adjusting, connecting, or disconnecting wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts
• Attends Technical and Soft Skill classes and successfully incorporates skills learned
• Maintains safety training and procedures
• Receives coaching, mentoring, and feedback from service leadership
• Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
• Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
• Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of basic arithmetic and its applications
• Knowledge of computer software and hardware applications
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to read, write, and interpret information
• Ability to follow directions and guidelines
• Ability to receive coaching, mentoring, and feedback from Service Leadership
• Ability to learn many different types of repair procedures on a variety of mechanical equipment

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
• Ability to work in a team environment

Travel:

• Very limited travel and overnight stays are expected for this position

Physical Requirements:

• Visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, and manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment
• Routinely moves materials or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds
• Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
• Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbing up and down ladders
• Be able to safely maneuver and work around equipment
• Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work

Work Environment:

• Regularly works indoors and outdoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
• Uses of hand and power tools to complete tasks
• Noise level may be loud at times and may be exposed to whole-body vibration
• Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
• May spend time in stationary, confined, and high places
