    ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES COMPANY is a renewable energy startup based in Livermore, CA.

    The company seeks an experienced power electronics engineer to join its development team and create the next generation of renewable energy products.

    We are advancing the solar industry through innovative thinking, high-fidelity measurements, machine learning, and deep customer partnerships to improve energy production and reliability.


    The responsibilities include:

    Contributing member of a multi-disciplinary team composed of systems, hardware, software engineers, and senior managementCapable of designing power electronics for high-power applications.

    Knowledge of power converter topologies, advantages and limitations, control feedback loops, and skill in making appropriate trade-offs given design constraints such as cost, part availability, efficiency, thermal, and other time-to-market objectives.

    Designing with the following technologies;
    o
    High-powered MOSFETs
    o
    Digital design experience to include microcontrollers
    o
    Communication interfaces such as USB 2.0/3.0, WiFi, Ethernet, SPI, and I2C
    o
    Software simulation of analog and digital circuitry using SPICE or other similar application
    o
    Embedded software development using C and/or C++Comfortable interacting with vendors in support of out-sourced components and servicesEMI/EMC compliance testing and mitigationSchematic capture and PCB layout using CAD tools such as Dip Trace or other similar applicationDevise experiments to optimize system performanceApply statistical tests to determine the efficacy of alternative approachesUnafraid to pursue new ideas while at the same time being results-orientedProvide leadership and mentoring when appropriateStrong written and oral communication skills
    QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSBS or MS in Electrical EngineeringFive years minimum experience in a design role with increasing responsibilityBasic understanding of statistics and an ability to applyKnowledge of linear as well as stochastic systems
    PREFERRED SKILLSExperienced in working with safety agencies such as UL and safety standards such as UL1741Knowledge of design techniques to facilitate manufacturing, test, cost, and reliabilityAbility to quickly learn new technologiesStrong communication and interpersonal skills – capable of interacting with technical and non-technical people
