Role Summary:

The Inflight Compliance Manager is a subject matter expert in ensuring compliance for the Inflight division at Alaska Airlines (AS) and Hawaiian Airlines (HA). This role exercises considerable judgment to make decisions in developing and managing the Inflight program to certify compliance with all applicable regulations and provide recommendations to address the division's processes and regulatory compliance.

Key Duties:

• Ensures Alaska Airlines' Inflight department meets all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations, and other regulatory requirements as they relate to the incident report, audit, and training records. Act as a primary liaison with the FAA Cabin Safety Inspector(s), ensuring overall alignment.
• Monitors the Federal Register for changes to FARs and Advisory Circulars, informs and ensures each divisional discipline has implemented changes as appropriate.
• Communicates directly with the Inflight Training department and Inflight teams to monitor and validate CFR compliance.
• Provides management personnel with interpretations, guidance, and industry best practices to maintain the highest level of compliance.
• Maintains the Document Control database for FAA correspondence, including letters of request for approval, Voluntary Self Disclosures (VSDs), Compliance Actions, Hazard letters, FAA Safety Assurance System (SAS) Findings and Letters of Investigation (LOI) – and monitors regulatory findings to ensure responses and/or corrective actions are appropriate, effective, and completed in a timely manner.
• Manage detailed projects in areas of Location of Passenger Amenities (LOPAs), Safety Information Card, Exit Row Seating, · Carry-on Baggage, and Direct View requirements within the regulations.
• Represents AS Inflight at industry meetings such as Airlines for America (A4A) as well as FAA sponsored meetings.
• Manages various ad-hoc AS Inflight-centric projects that support regulatory compliance for Alaska Airlines, such as new aircraft acquisition.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills:

Required

• 5 years of experience in airline industry.
• 2 years of leadership experience.
• Bachelor's degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
• Experience and knowledge of 14 CFR PART 5 – Safety Management Systems (SMS) programs and requirements.
• Must successfully complete Flight Attendant Training (if not already qualified as an AS/HA Flight Attendant) and maintain certification.
• Experience in Airline Safety, Regulatory Compliance, or Quality Assurance.
• Knowledge of 14 CFR PART 121 and associated regulations for air carrier operations departments.
• Experience working with the FAA, along with expertise interpreting and applying CFRs, SAS (formerly ATOS) and SMS requirements.
• Proven experience with project planning, execution, and ongoing maintenance.
• Extensive domestic travel, up to 25% of the time, with occasional international travel.
• Able to conduct inflight observations for extended periods of time.
• Ability to deliver presentations and speak to numerous work groups and training classes.
• Ability to successfully complete Inflight initial training and maintain currency of qualifications.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age of 18.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

• 2 years of experience and knowledge of 14 CFR PART 5 – Safety Management Systems (SMS) programs and requirements.
• Experience and knowledge of 49 CFR PART 830 and 49 CFR PART 41113 as it relates to NTSB Accident Investigation Process and review of Inflight Records and Reporting Programs.
• Experience managing large, cross-departmental projects, processes, and procedures.
• Experience in the Inflight Training environment.
• Experience mobilizing a cross-functional learning team with diverse backgrounds and varied levels of experience (e.g., setting clear expectations, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, and providing learning and career growth opportunities).
• Outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills; team player.
• Excellent leadership skills include driving results, identifying opportunities, and managing change.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Certification in industrial audit or compliance.

Salary Range: $117,850 - $176,800 / year Salary Details:

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
