SciAps, Inc. is a Boston area-based scientific instrument company specializing in high performance portable analytical instruments. Our mission is to provide best in class hand-held instruments to identify any compound, any mineral, any element — anyplace.

We are looking for a highly motivated and technically gifted individual to join our team of world-class Software Engineers working in a fast-paced, high technology environment.

This job is a full-time on-site position in Woburn, MA.

3 years of Android development experience is required.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Design and implement new features for Android applications running on X-ray (XRF), laser (LIBS, Raman), and infrared (NIR) portable scientific analyzers
80% new development for upcoming products and 20% maintenance
Support integrations with proprietary SciAps Cloud solution and Desktop Calibration tools
Produce high-quality, elegant and efficient code that is self-documenting and scalable
Work closely with science team on spectrum processing and data analysis algorithms

Skills and Experience:

Designing robust, extensible and customizable application code on Android 13 platform
Strong, well-practiced User Interface development skills are critical
Tight integration with real-time data producing systems
Robust organizational and creative problem-solving abilities
Comfortable working in a dynamic environment where priorities can change frequently depending on business needs
Ability to work with mathematical algorithms via code
Knowledgeable about optimizing code performance

Pluses:

Embedded Linux Kernel experience
AOSP (Android Open Source Project) experience
Cloud integrations: AWS, Read Head Enterprise Linux
AI, ML experience
Java Swing desktop applications development
Familiarity with analytical chemistry technologies including XRF, LIBS, NIR, and Raman

Education:

BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
