Senior Back End Developer | San Antonio, TX | On-site | $125,000 - $150,000
We're working with a leading federal technology partner specializing in mission-critical national security and cybersecurity programs on this exciting opportunity.
You will be at the heart of high-impact government missions, architecting robust back-end systems using Python, AWS, and Kubernetes to support operational readiness at the highest levels of defense.
As a Senior Back End Developer, you will bridge the gap between complex requirements and technical execution, building scalable RESTful APIs and optimizing data models in an enterprise DevSecOps environment.
The Role
- Lead the design and development of complex back-end architectures, ensuring high-performance system capabilities and seamless third-party integrations.
- Drive the full lifecycle of RESTful API development and database management, utilizing Python and PostgreSQL to handle mission-critical data.
- Architect and optimize data models to ensure system operability, including preparation for machine learning and AI capability integration.
- Spearhead engineering tasks within a cloud-native environment, leveraging Docker, Kubernetes, and RedHat Linux to maintain elite operational standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate functional requirements into technical documentation, architectural models, and high-quality procedures.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance and the ability to work on-site in San Antonio 5 days a week.
- 10+ years of professional software development experience in object-oriented and scripted languages, with 5+ years specifically in back-end web design.
- Deep technical expertise in Python (5+ years), PostgreSQL, and building/integrating RESTful APIs within a cloud environment.
- Hands-on experience with DevSecOps tool suites, including AWS Infrastructure, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proven leadership experience in software development programs, ideally utilizing Agile/Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Jira for bug tracking.
- Competitive salary range of $125,000 - $150,000 based on experience and impact.
