    Lake View Café Line Cook - Seasonal

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Who we are:

    Westwood Country Club is a premier family-oriented athletic club located in central Austin that provides a variety of quality services and activities for the recreation and dining needs of members.

    Position Summary:

    Responsible for all à la carte food preparation, set-up and service. Prepare food items required for all buffet set-ups for dining events and/or special club functions. Prep for any special food items as assigned by the Sous Chef or management. Work in assigned stations as a buffet station attendant (cooks' omelets, carves meat, serves pasta, or grills hamburgers and/or steaks for banquets).

    Compensation: $19.00 to 21.00 per hour based on experience.

    End of Season Bonus: $500 at the end of season. **Must work through the end of the season and leave in good standing.

    Duration: Full-Time, Seasonal work from May 27th to September 2nd. Season may be extended due to business needs. AM and PM Shifts Available.

    Essential Job Functions: *including but not limited to*

    • Promptly greet and take orders from club members and guests in the Fitness Center
    • Be friendly and helpful; explain and answer menu-related questions.
    • Maintain a clean, sanitary environment to ensure compliance with local and state health codes.
    • Prepare all food according to recipes and guidelines established by the Executive Chef (memorize all recipes and standard preparation procedures)
    • Enforce and abide by all established country club policies pertinent to kitchen operations.
    • Initial each work schedule posted and report to work on time and prepared daily.
    • Ensure the du jour specials and methods for preparation and presentation are properly completed.
    • Make sure your assigned workstation is properly stocked/supplied for daily operation.
    • Report any hazardous conditions or broken equipment to superiors immediately.
    • Check on the food products daily and alert supervisors when food quality is below standard
    • Complete mise en place fifteen minutes before start of service
    • Handle leftover food items as instructed by the Sous Chef
    • Return soiled food preparation utensils and small wares to the proper areas.
    • Consistently use safe and sanitary food handling practices, including those related to personal hygiene
    • Perform other appropriate tasks as assigned by Sous Chef or Executive Chef

    Preferred Education and/or Experience:

    Two years of food and beverage experience in a hotel, country club, or full-service restaurant environment preferred. Requires a City of Austin Certified Food Handlers' Safety Certificate and TABC Certification.

    Physical Demands:

    This position requires standing, walking, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, holding/carrying, twisting/turning, reaching, climbing stairs/ladders, sitting. Employee will have the ability to lift at least fifty (50) pounds on a consistent basis. Must be able to stand and work in a hot, humid and sometime loud environment for long periods of time. Must be able to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced kitchen environment, while maintaining accuracy.

    Educación y/o experiencia preferida:

    Se prefieren dos años de experiencia en alimentos y bebidas en un hotel, club de campo o restaurante de servicio completo. Requiere un certificado de seguridad certificado por la ciudad de Austin para manipuladores de alimentos y una certificación TABC.

    Exigencias físicas:
