    The facility is located less than an hour from downtown Chicago and all the amenities it offers.

    Chicago is known for its significant advancement in performing arts, Chicago and Prairie School architecture, bustling restaurant and nightlife, multicultural musical venues and numerous public historical museums and fine art galleries.

    The FHCC is a first-of-its-kind partnership between the US Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense (DoD), integrating all medical care into a federal health care facility with a single combined VA and Navy mission: "Readying Warriors and Caring for Heroes." Your patients will be a mix of both veterans and active-duty military, including recruits at the Great Lakes Naval Base.

    Provide quality inpatient/outpatient care in accordance with approved clinical privileges.

    Attend and participate in outpatient clinics and take an active role in the evaluation of the patient, decision for treatment/care, and complete timely documentation in the patient electronic records.

    Collaborative patient management along with the other departments and sections of the hospitals including, but not limited to, laboratory, Medicine, Radiology, and the auxiliary services.

    Evaluate and treat Urology emergencies in the Emergency Department, Outpatient clinic, Inpatient ward, ICU, and the Operating Room.
    Attend all meetings required by the Organization and the Surgery Service in particular.

    Proficient in General Urology with the ability to perform Cystoscopy procedures and small to intermediate Urologic cases (open and minimally invasive).

    Collaboration with other surgical services including general surgery, gynecology, nephrology for more complex surgical interventions ..
    Participation in affiliate medical student and resident physician didactic lectures, and teaching rounds.
    Appointment to an academic medical faculty staff position is encouraged and will be supported.
